It will take a yera or two until I give it another try. Being a one scenario game, and a very very big and long one (30 hours +) with ultra micromanagement, makes it extremely hard to play on an ongoing bases.

Top class hex game. Good old Panzer style. Big maps. A bit of a week AI.
Love it.

This game is a jewel.
A true must have for grand strategy lovers. Specially when combined with FoG2. They make a perfect combo for lovers of both tactical wargaming and deep management.
Main flows IMHO:
- the auto management system of provinces is poor and leads to poor performance and rebellions if left alone, which leads to an overwhelming job of micromangement in later phases of the game.
- The second and forthcoming games tend to be repetitive and culture modifiers are not enough to enjoy a truly different gaming experience.
That said, I love this game and you will enjoy countless hours of pure joy before you get bored of this game.
A classic. I would love to see what this engine can provide in the future linked with FoG2 battling experience.

A very interesting logistic approach to wargaming.
A fantastic idea ruined by a poor units control system and map scrolling mode that provokes continues wrong unit selection, false moves, involuntary attacks. A true mess of playability.
Additionally tutorials are totally insufficient.

Reconquista reconquered me. After my initial negative review I want to reconsider my vote.
I gave the new DLC a try and it gave me back the chills of playing the original FoG2. Reconquista It is a full refreshment of the medieval game, with better themes, better playability and less random reactions.
I can recomend now this game (honestly only if played on this new DLC.

First things first. I am a Field Glory II (Ancient) lover. Favorite game for the last 6 months together with Empires makes an unbeatable combo. I Played all extensions and enjoyed every bit of the game.
I have been waiting with excitement for this release: It is a major disappointment. HUGE!
It feels like a minor version of the previous one with more shinier brighter colors.
Troops performance is random, themes/battles choice uninteresting, units movement handicapped. .
I tried all campaigns and I did not felt attracted by any of them.
Terrain takes over play-ability, strange troops reactions, very unbalanced troop displayed in the board, poor troop types differentiation, in some cases total impossibility to recognize your troops from the enemy ones. The baltic campaign initial battle is a huge mess of brown troops in vanilla banners (both sides) in the middle of a marsh: uninteresting, heavy to play, impossible to figure out what is going on....
A huge step back.
I will park it and go back to the original title that remains being one of my favorite wargames ever and a true jewel.

Wargamers, fans of Total war, strategy lovers. Probably the best board wargame computer version.
Deep but accessible. 80% strategy + 20% luck.
Loving it.
