nwavguy, I agree. You touched on the status symbol argument, too.

What's sad is how people get upset at how inexpensive great audio is today. I grew up with LPs, 8-tracks and cassettes. All quite flawed. But if you look at today's digital from a perspective 30 years ago, digital seems like a miracle. Not only are most of the source problems solved, digital is incredibly cheap. Great players under $50, you can get used discs for $1 or $2, and you can put thousands of albums onto a five pound laptop you can take anywhere.

Great audio has never cost less and you'd think this would be cause for celebration. But no. People are angry because their status symbol works the same as everything else.

Thinking That “This” Is A Luxurious Life

We often view a luxurious life as a life with big houses and nice cars; however, I do not believe that this is luxury. I believe that luxury is having things like clean drinking water, hot showers, and safe food. We often take these small things for granted, but these are the things that create a high standard of living. I avoid portrayed "luxurious" items because I believe I already have a luxurious life.

Therefore, we love because He first loved us. - 1 Jn 4:19

Reflection. “Don’t be disturbed because of your imperfections, and always rise up bravely from a fall. Every day make a new beginning” (St. Francis De Sales). Be your own best friend, because no one can do that for you.

Prayer. Lord, help me to be a little kinder to myself. I need to lighten up a little.

Inasmuch as gods are always created in man's own image—and the average man hates what he sees in himself—the inevitable must occur: the sacrifice of the god who represents himself.

The saddest part that gets me about these stories are the "living". How many of us pay too much attention to hatred, nasty politics and having money, money and more money. No manner what you can't take it with you and you never know how your next day will be, if you have a next day. Many of us follow the crowd of cruelness and not the road of happiness and treating one another as humans should be treated. We all know it's diseases out there but we're here and long as we're here we should treat one another with all the respect we can pull out of us. Her story is very, very sad but we who have typed here are still breathing, let's cherish life from this moment on. Many blessings to her family..

If you're about to turn 59 like I am, and think about the life that has transpired since I was 41, I am at once profoundly lucky to have gotten another 18 years and counting, and sad that there are people who don't get to fulfill the promise of a full lifetime. My condolences to the family of one who, from my viewpoint, has died so young.

Bullies are so predictable and easily manipulated. Watch as they are drawn to the so called schoolyard nerds and dorks having a good time revealing how empty and shallow their lives are. Enjoy the show before you kick em to the curb and move on with a big smile on your face. Oh and always trust your gut instinct it will show you the obvious when these instigators of false drama appear on the scene.
Hellbishop 4 Aug @ 5:54am
When you hear the chronic complainers starting their nonsense just smile and tell yourself, " Ha! Ha! Am happy and your not". Remember all they are interested in is making your life miserable show them otherwise for there is strength in joy and it shall not be denied for this is your life and it is as a blade of agony in their small hateful minds which is as a small grain of sand in a vast beach of happiness. Enjoy :Thor:

Go about your day in peace and happiness enjoying your daily routine and hobbies. You would be surprise how in the eyes of many you shine as a beacon of light just by living life and not being drawn into the chaotic drama so many create to feel a false sense of importance.

@Killer Rabbit, plenty of both. I love commercials/trailers from the present and going back to when i was not even born like the old SLINKY toy commercials to more creepy fare:

Any game trailers raise your interest?

Are these games that are coming or are you nostalgic and playing commercials from when Atari first came out? Or were you Ana Intellivision household.

Game trailers so inspiring even a blind man would smile.

A crossing thought when having breakfast this morning and hearing my Youtube game trailer playlist in the next room.

There'a a Japanese proverb that says something like, "If you chase butterflies they will fly away, but if you build a beautiful garden you will attract them".

Stop chasing people, that job, that position etc. Live your life. Develop your skill set, your strengths. See as people and things come to you so even if you end up mostly by yourself you will be living a great life of beauty, peace and abundance of choice.

Indeed. Hopefully somewhere out there they do something ingenious like collect them after Halloween as fertilizers or to feed livestock such as pigs which will eat anything.
Killer Rabbit 19 Jul @ 10:01am
Ha! It’s funny that all those resources go into growing and harvesting pumpkins so that we can carve them up and put them on display before they rot and are tossed.
Hellbishop 18 Jul @ 4:15pm
Yes because they are made of money and they had to adapt and change their color to orange or else go extinct because of the greedy humans.
Killer Rabbit 18 Jul @ 2:07pm
Don’t pumpkins start out green in color and turn orange later?
Hellbishop 18 Jul @ 7:42am
Remember Halloween is everyday! After all are not carrots the same color as pumpkins? Hmm?

Shine ever brighter when those who try to dim your happiness appear at the start of the day. Shine that happiness and enjoy your hobbies and all that brings you comfort as this is what drives them back and forth like poisoned rats crazed with envy and jealousy. Watch as time goes by and they have not done nothing except effect their own minds and bodies in a unhealthy negative way.

Yes that was the other thing that had me choosing BATTLETECH over WARHAMMER because of the mind numbing high cost which would have slowed down and limited my enjoyment. Those minitures were also humongous. Was overjoyed when i saw an ad for WARHAMMER 40,000 LIBERATION in a issue of PC GAMER as i was now frothing at the mouth to finally experience the game as i was heavily into pc gaming pretty much having put to the side my tabletop gaming days for the infinity of space and no setup needed time saving hobby of pc gaming.

Warhammer tabletop (40k or Fantasy) requires a small fortune!
Hellbishop 7 Jul @ 12:05pm
Who would have thought a BATTLETECH tabletop gamer like me from back in the day would be fanatically playing WARHAMMER 40,000 video games with it being my second choice for tabletop gaming in the 1990's but it would have demanded more space and finances than i had at the time. Life always finds a way :dqchalice:

You too ^1BigBossMan1978 [BE] and be safe here in New York its in the blazing 90's with a real feel in the 100 degree range. Thank goodness i got out the past few days so am all good for chilling indoors gaming and watching movies with the air conditioner on when needed to keep things cool. Reminds me of when i was visiting my sis and my bro inlaw last year in Florida. Still there is something different about New York heat ha ha.

Have a great summer everyone and watch the wallet things are expensive out there so make the most of it and save when you can during these extremely tight times where many of us only have enough for paying the bills and putting the food on the table. Also don't forget to appreciate and enjoy what you already have instead of rushing off to new shiny sparkling baubles. Many times the so called old stuff is more fun and complete than the latest unnecessary luxury :DE_Monada:

You too ^1BigBossMan1978 [BE]. Friday is going well enjoyed a nice early morning walk and been gaming most of the day. Also checked out the new two hours of free gameplay for DRAGONS DOGMA II which will be going on for a few days as well as the full game discount. Pretty impressive and with my new pc i can enjoy it unlike my previous pc where it did not meet many of the specs. Oh and congratulations on your new pc setup. Cheers! :steamhappy:
