I didn't really expect anything out of Starfield. I expected it to be another Bethesda game like Fallout 4 and Skyrim, two games that i enjoyed but i could see clear flaws in them.

However after a bit into the game i quickly saw what was wrong with the design philosophy of Starfield ; The game doesn't want you to explore.
I thought it was very telling that in the tutorial, you're told to fast travel to your ship rather than just walk back there. It was a bad sign that in fact, there was nothing interesting enough out there that the game would tell me to explore.

Fallout 4 and Skyrim both had an amazing sense of exploration, i found it was very fun in those games to just walk around until i stumbled across something. But with Starfield, there may be 1000 planets but less than half of those are interesting, everything else just has randomly generated buildings.

Starfield is empty and boring, the UI is also horrendous. I find it extremely funny that Todd said he liked SkyUI for Skyrim, and yet the UI is this bad in Starfield. The game has no roleplay potential, even less than Skyrim and Fallout 4 combined. Despite the fact there's almost double lines of dialogues.

I had one simple opinion about Starfield before it launched ; either the game was going to be good, and we would get TES VI a bit sooner, or the game would be a disaster and TES VI would be even more delayed.
Looks like it is the latter AND I HOPE IT IS, because Bethesda has to rethink their entire "Bethesda magic".

Cut down on those loading screens, give us roleplay options and allow exploration in your game Todd.
The advantage of playing Fallout 4 and Skyrim so many years after their release is that modders had years to fix your mistakes, Starfield doesn't have that advantage.

TLDR ; This game has an outdated design philosophy that isn't worth 70$. Use that money to buy Cyberpunk 2077, a game that gives Bethesda magic while being made by a completely different studio and that is way more fun than this.

This was my birthday gift, Todd, and i only played it for 2 hours before getting bored and annoyed with what i was seeing.
