Motivated.

DMC 5 is the final DMC game I've played after going through 1-4, and I must say DMC 5 is worlds apart from the rest. Visually, the game is modern and still striking for a 2019 release in 2025. The levels feel good, and the bosses are fun (except for Malphas—that ♥♥♥♥♥ is only riding her ♥♥♥♥ because she can't get any, the way she tries to perma ground pound you).

The story is a great follow-up from DMC 4, enhancing the narrative and making it feel more consistent. This time, unlike in DMC 4, Dante feels great to play and not like a slap-on add-on, with a fleshed-out kit—as goes for Nero and the Vergil DLC.

Sadly, V played badly, and any mission involving him felt clunky and unfun. You stand at a distance, commanding your creatures to attack, and it just feels so awkward to control and play. It made me understand why people made mods to remove his missions from the game, which I'd honestly recommend—not because it's hard, but just because it's unfun to play through.

The music for this game really pumped me up and feels like a good selection of tunes to smash demon skulls to. Compared to previous DMC games, where the OST might have one or two standout songs, DMC 5 has a more well-rounded OST with higher overall production quality, making for a pleasant listening experience together with the game’s sound design.

The only other noteworthy thing is the online features that are implemented. I just couldn't understand what they were for—they add nothing, and it just feels weird and unnecessary. If they needed a second character to be in the mission, they could have just made it an NPC, making for a more consistent and enjoyable experience.
But overall, this game is great and shows DMC’s potential fulfilled again. Can't wait for DMC 6 to come out one day!
