Great engine, great graphics, and that's where the list of things that are great stops.

I dunno who they wrote this game for -- if you're a fan of the original game, you're going to be flabbergasted by how Max acts and reacts to things -- like she's an entirely different person. I'm willing to get past the fact that Chloe isn't in the game (how could she be without removing the choice from the first game), but I'm soured by the fact that the new characters are bland and forgettable.

The ending being a vague cliffhanger for more games really doesn't sit well either -- this game wasn't great, you think I'm gonna buy the next one when you didn't even give me a good ending in this one no matter what choice I made? No thanks, after multiple missteps, I'm going to skip the rest of Deck Nine's attempts in this series.

Another great co-op game from Hazelight. Fun story, great gameplay mechanics, constantly adding or changing the rules. More co-op games like this should exist.

It's a gacha game, which is kind of a let-down considering it was advertised as a full-on remake of the entire FF7 set of games and stories in low-poly way for new systems. The only good thing you can say is that you don't need to spend any money to reach the end of the available content, just a LOT of time.

The battles are pretty much mindless (fast forward and auto play are enough to beat the entirety of the game at this point), the story is a distilled version of the main game stories, and the entire thing really just seems like a vehicle to try and make you buy premium currency. Every time you do anything you get a pop-up with a new pack to buy in their real-money store.

If you're looking to kill some time, this is fine. If you're looking for a way to experience the story of FF7, Advent Children, Crisis Core, and The First Soldier, this will be a let down for you.

Early Access Review
This is a good port of the arcade games Zeke's Peak and Ice Cold Beer -- skill games where you work to get a ball into lit holes by raising a metal bar with two joysticks. The gameplay is good but a bit forgiving vs. the original machines, even in pro mode.

For early access it's great, but I hope that they do a bit of work on the ball physics as the ball never picks up momentum if the bar is at a slight angle, making it very easy to precisely control the ball in ways that aren't possible on the real machines.

Honestly, in some ways I feel like this does a better job of capturing the feeling of The 7th Guest than The 11th Hour does.

The music is also fantastic, it matches the eerie quality of the original soundtrack while being unique and not relying on The 7th Guest's previously established melodic motifs.

The maze section is dumb and it should feel bad, even with the map in the game. :)

Oh

my

God

they finally fixed it

I don't know how good the game is because the performance stopped me from playing it until now, but holy cow they fixed it and it actually runs like a game made in this decade.

Bigger, better, and more fun than the first in just about every way. Play co-op and prepare to "accidentally" use elemental interactions to set your buddy on fire, or freeze them, or shock them, or blind them, you name it. 10/10

Then download some of the really fantastic community mods and play the entire game again with new classes and quests and develop an appreciation for the amount of time and effort people have put into making some top tier and exceptional quality mods.

Super Sackboy 3D World. You know what you're getting. Good co-optional game. Beat levels together or throw your friends off the map, A+.

This game is an absolute blast -- if you like CRPGs and have even a passing interest in D&D/SRD, this is an absolute masterpiece of an implementation of the ruleset in a PC game. The story is good, the graphics are good (but perhaps a bit jank during cutscenes), the engine is built interestingly (it runs as fast as the slowest person playing the game and has a habit of desyncing multiplayer if there's a sizeable discrepancy in the power of computers between players) but the gameplay systems really just hit every mark.

Phenomenal game, I hope they come back with a sequel with even higher production values, polish some of the rough edges -- it is absolutely one of the two current best implementations of D&D/D&D-esque rulesets in a computer game.
