From rags to riches. The launch of No Man's Sky was... bad. Lots of hype and poor delivery. Folks all thought it would be biggest flop ever. Well... it was... but Hello Games dug in and refused to give up. it took them quite some time but this is a brilliant game with many things to do and ample places to simply get lost in. It's very much an open world sandbox and while there is story, it's not super compelling. You're here to explore and it delivers.

Decent EA game. Content is a bit short as of this writing at about 5-6 hours depending how much you fool around or just go exploring. Will be interesting to see where it goes as the premise is fun and things generally "just work" which is a nice change.

... and you can make your own BLIMP!

Good game. Better than ME1-3 in many gameplay areas just for love of god DO NOT PLAY THIS RIGHT AFTER PLAYING THE TRILOGY OR YOU WILL BE SAD. It's fun but the story tries [and fails] to be high stakes like ME1-3. If you have never played a Mass Effect game you'll probably enjoy it much more honestly.

3/5 stars

I just can't do it. Since there is no maybe option this is about a 2/5 overall.

I was spoiled. I played Kiwami first. I just could not get in to 3. The characters and story has no real agency and I just found myself mostly not caring and only playing it in case I missed any important story bits for when I start Yakuza 4. Yakuza Zero, Kiwami 1, Kiwama 2? Fantastic, must have. 3 is just a HD remake of the original and is sorely, painfully missing the quality of life stuff that Kiwami and later games added. Story aside, the gameplay itself was just painful down to the most critical of items... combat. Infinite blocking bad guys and just horrible fight pacing as all the bosses can hit you have large chunks of your life but best you can do is whittle away and their massive health bars. It's just not fun. There are no stances either so you're pretty stuck with what you got. Weapons are crap in this one too and you can't pick up and store like you could in Kiwami 2.

Overall a pass in the series unless you want to make sure to get all the main story bits.

Great game but a bit different than the other Yakuza's and not necessarily in a bad way. Biggest change is combat as LAD is turn-based standard JRPG whereas 0-6 are all more beat-em-up action games. Personally, I love JRPGs so this was a great change for me but some folks might not take as kindly to it.

Story is decent tho the other games in the series generally did it better, especially Yakuza Zero. It's not bad, it's just not great. Gameplay overall is good. It's a Yakuza game so you know what you're signing up for. Lots of minigames, side quests and things that range from dark to obsurd. Overall a good buy tho I wouldn't waste money on any of the DLC unless it is on sale. I got all DLC for like $5 during a Steam sale and it was a decent buy but looking at the store on ala-carte pricing, it's awful for what you get. The best DLC is the jobs one but honestly I barelt used the two new jobs so it's all pretty passable.

Fairly long game. If you grind some levels and try to do most things you're pushing 70+ hours. I did not do the final super dungeon post-game and have a good bit of completion stuff to finish so I'd estimate 100 hours easily to 100% the game if you have that sort of dedication.

Fantastic game. Great main story and piles of things to do. The side stories range from sad to completely bonkers and at times makes you wonder wtf you are playing. Overall very good, highly recommend.

Fun game with some caveats. The gameplay loop is decent but it is also kind of shallow at the same time. You get resources to upgrade your stuff to get different resources, repeat. Oh and there are zombies... er.. ex-humans. Mutants? Something totally not zombies.

There isn't anything revolutionary here but it isn't a bad play and on sale it easily covers its tab. I beat the game and did a bit of extra work and am at 49 hours. I could probably drop another 30 trying to 100% it and do the final Ark quest which is fancy for "bring me 500 of everything" more or less but eh, if you like tearing down stuff and grinding out those materials then have at it.

Story is ok, not great but not awful. Ending left me with a lot of questions. DLC comes out in a few months so maybe see if that sorts some things out.

EA Review:

Great game so far. The core gameplay loop is pretty much in at this point it feels like but the story is not. There is considerable amount to do and it took me ~50 hrs to get through the first year. Devs posted a roadmap for rest of 2022 updates and I'd [guess] it should be "done" about a year from its release if it follows Portia so May '23.

This is not a revolutionary game by any means. Sandrock simply takes Portia and brings it up a notch. Things a lof of folks modded? Built in now. Lots of quality of life added. Some gameplay twists for that razzle dazzle and just an overall solid game. If you liked My Time at Portia this is an instant-buy. If you are waiting for the story to get all in and whatnot, you're looking end of '22 at the earliest. That's not to say there isn't a ton of things to do otherwise, you just can't complete the main story. Next two big content drops are slated Q3 and end of Q4 '22 if the roadmap holds.
