Great tactical game that loses points for a jerky camera interface. It would be difficult to capture the original magic of the original, DOS-based XCOM game, but this Enemy Unknown game does come close, with many of the same hallmarks of the original. But every few seconds is another sliding camera, loss of interface control, reaction shot, or cutscene movies. Even during the combat, such as throwing a grenade, the camera swings around wildly as you fight for cursor control. Admittedly, some of the reaction-shot movies can be disabled and the longer ones can be skipped with the ESC key.

I played this squad-based, turn-based, tactical, base-building game on an ubuntu linux desktop, with radeon mesa graphic drivers. I used a mouse and keyboard for controls. I had zero technical problems, even at the highest graphical settings, and this is a great example of a AAA-grade game being ported for linux gamers. This game comes with the Enemy Within expansion, and the Longest War mod can be added, for an incredible amount of game content - taking up 16,000 MBs of diskspace. I thought the story narrative and voice acting was very good in this game, despite my concern with all the movies. Ultimately, I recommend this game people who enjoy base building games with tactical combat gameplay.
