Wow.

I mean, what else can one say after experiencing such a masterpiece?

Hyper Light Drifter is comparable to Ocarina of Time in the sense of scale and wonder.

It is a vast, mysterious world affected by an ever more mysterious past. Remnants of war, otherworldly beings, frightening and confusing visions, beautiful and magnificent architecture eroded by the passage of time. It is a world you want nothing more to explore and discover, yet at the same time, feel as though you are not worthy to. The art, the music, the sounds, the atmosphere, the lore..... it all harmonizes in perfection.

The gameplay is precise and fluid. It feels right. No issues, no glitches, no bugs. Just perfectly smooth, accurate control of the Drifter and his arsenal of weapons.

This game is just..... amazing. Full of wonders. Truly a masterpiece.

If you have not yet experienced it,

Or even if you already have,

Hyper Light Drifter is an adventure that I promise you will not regret taking.

What do I have to say about Sky Rogue?

Plenty.

When you first play the game, it feels familiar, comfortable... cozy even. It feels as though you've played it before.

Even though you haven't.

That's 'cause everything about Sky Rogue brings to remembrance the greatness of days gone by.

You feel like you're starring a Saturday-morning, actiony-dogfight bonanza that's fully animated with Hi-Def N64 graphics.

The gameplay is nigh perfect. The controls are tight and responsive. Also fully customizable on both keyboard/mouse and controllers.

The audio is wow.

Yes.

Wow.

The cool music, the lock-on alerts, the exploding missiles, the fwooshy jets, it all just makes me feel so..... happy.

The graphics are simple, but so satisfyingly awesome. Everything is very crisp. It's beautiful, really.

Even if you aren't part of the "older generation".

Even if you aren't a fan of "retro".

Even if you aren't a fan of videogames.

You should still get this.

Why?

Because Sky Rogue is first-rate stuff that'll most likely give you as much delight as it did me.

Do you like music?

Yeah, me too!

But, if you're like me, you hate just listening to music.

You know, when you really just want to chill with your favorite songs, but not study, work, or read while you do it.

You just want to chill.

.....but, you feel like you're wasting time if you're just sitting there, doing nothing while you listen.

This is where Riff Racer comes in.

-----------------

Now you can chill and enjoy your music, but without that feeling of idleness.

Whether you're:

---Wandering a long, winding ambient tune,

---Navigating a bending, twisting jazz piece,

or Traversing a plunging, rolling dubstep jam,

It's relaxing, it's fun, and you'll find yourself hooked on it.

-----------------

I'll admit, Riff Racer is nothing special if you look at it purely as a driving/racing game, because that's not what it is.

It's a tool that lets you experience music in a whole new perspective.

Seeing the beat.....

Feeling the flow.....

That is what makes this game great.

My childhood was Transformers.

The shows, the games, the pretending...

Oh, and of course, the many, many toys.

One, missing the projectile that goes with his gun. Another, missing the lower part of his leg. All of them worn and scratched from years of play.

Yes, that was my childhood.

-----------------

Years go by, a new Transformers movie is on it's way...

"What?! It's an actual live action movie?! AWESOME!!!!!"

I went to the theatre with excitement in my heart, and a spring in my step.

The movie started, and I watched...

-----------------

Three movies later, my childhood memories crushed by the abominable Bayformers, I had given up hope.

But then.

In the warm glow of my laptop's screen, I saw it:

Transformers: Devastation

With my optics, I gazed upon its glory. With my audio receptors, I heard their wondrous voices.

Memories flooded my mind, Joy burst into my soul.

Although tears were blinding my vision, I could still see clearly enough to click "purchase", and then "install".

The game started, and I played...

-----------------

Pros:

Graphics so smooth, Jazz would think it's his reflection.

Gameplay so epic, Unicron is dwarfed by comparison.

Audio so amazing, Soundwave proclaims it superior.

Cons:

Decepticons

Insecticons

Concept Art

-----------------

This, my friends, is my childhood.

This, is Transformers.

Rocket League > League of Legends

Rocket League is the best League

-----------------

A stranger once said unto me, in response to the above statement:

"oh yeah, thats why in twitch you can see more than 200k viewers on lol and 50k on rocket"

To him, or any other who has similar remarks, I proclaim the following words:

"Greatness is not measured in viewer counts or player amounts.

Greatness, my friends, is measured in leagues"

Truth be told, there is no game that can compare to the glorious, magnificent experience that is Rocket League.

This masterpiece is truly in a league of its own.

Furthermore, before any of you cast forth accusations upon me, I can assure you, I am not in league with those who developed this supreme, rocket-powered work of exquisitely coordinated, flashing pixels.

----------------

Ok you know what? forget the formalities and proper grammar. Imma shoot straight with you.

If you thought you could just buy the game and top the leaderboards in a day, you. thought. wrong.

The journey's gonna be harder than that trek from a toilet-paperless dump to that stack of extra rolls in your basement in the middle of the night with the lights out.

Most of the ppl you meet will be way out of your league, and its gonna take guts, practice, and a controller if you want to make it anywhere.

So Stand Tall. Stand Proud.

So Sit Down. On Your Butt.

Idle In That Menu.

Listen To That Soundtrack.

Join That Game.

And Get Rekt Make That Ball Go Boom.

Early Access Review
PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS AN EARLY ACCESS REVIEW

Did you ever hear of Skyhook before being on it's store page for the first time?

Me neither.

It's kinda one of those games you learn of by some obscure indie reviewer/blogger, or by chance. For me, it was the latter. I'd recently ordered a Steam Link so I could play games on the big TV in my living room. I figured I should try picking up some local-multiplayer games for when I have my friends over, so I did a Steam store search of games with both the "Full-Controller Support" and "Local Multiplayer" tags. I found Skyhook about half-way through the fourth set of results. After seeing both the neat gameplay and the 50% off discount, I thought to myself "ehh...why not?" and got it.

Was it worth it?

Absolutely! Even though it's still in Early Access, it's amazingly good! Here are some more specific details as to why:

The gameplay is unique, fast-paced, and downright fun! The easiest way for me to describe it is Super Smash Bros. with hookshots and 1-hit kills. There's cannon turrets, rideable gryphons and airships, numerous powerups, various game-modes ranging from classic Deathmatch to Sky Ball (Skyhook's take on basketball), as well as a list of modifiers you can add to change things up. Each gamemode has a team option, and can be played with difficulty-adjustable AI bots.

Speaking of which, the AI is commendable. The bots are good at navigating the stages, and can really give you a challenge (especially when you put their difficulty on hard xD). The bots can also fill empty slots when you're playing with only 1 or 2 other friends.

Currently, there are five characters to play as (four available right off the bat; one unlockable) and five available maps (the layouts get switched around each time a map is played, which helps add some variation to the stages), and the developer is planning to add more in the future, as well as other new content.

Which also reminds me. Skyhook's developer, Megastorm Games (which is only one guy, by the way), is actively listening and responding to community feedback/questions. So far, I've posted a question concerning bots, reported a bug, and suggested a new control scheme; each time I got a friendly, helpful reply from the dev. #awesomeindiedev

Controllers are recommended (I personally use a Xbox 360 gamepad), but a keyboard works fine as well. You can also use a keyboard along with controllers when playing with friends.

Oh, and there's also some pretty cool Twitch integration. This video showcases how that works.

In conclusion, Skyhook is a game that, though still in Early Access, delivers a distinctive, enjoyable, local-multiplayer experience, albeit with a few minor bugs here and there (that will inevitably be fixed as development progresses). At a low cost of $5 (and even less when on discount), Skyhook should be a definite purchase for anyone desiring a unique game to play with/without friends. Why are you still reading this? GO BUY IT!!!!!

TL:DR

Awesome Gameplay, Great Dev, Low Price, More Content Forthcoming. You can be a pirate shark and blow up a literal cat burglar with a cannon whilst it's riding a lighting-spewing gryphon, then get hookshotted to death by a teleporting desert princess-assassin.
