i quite like it so far, great for after a closing shift at work, i can pick it up or put it down at any time. the aesthetic is great, and i love the little blue guy! down on the d-pad lets you pet him :)

Really great game with very active and passionate developers. Definitely grab it if you haven't.

the perfect game

went in blind, knew nothing of the series beforehand, couldn't get it to run when I bought it six months ago, and the second and third games wouldn't work either. New PC build fixed all that, minus downloading a patch for this first game to fix the audio & widescreen. I wanted all three to be playable before I dove in headfirst, and the only fix for the third game was literally getting a new PC.

With all that being said, this is my favorite game of the trilogy, and my favorite iteration of Max. They made him too much of a regular Joe in the looks department from here on out, and in 3, Rockstar made him that "troubled, pitiful, shell of a man, wallowing in guilt and despair" trope they loved at the time. Evan Luke's face plastered onto this model in a very Goldeneye-esque way, is the definitive version of Max in my eyes.

Gameplay wise, I think it's the best in the series, even with the bit of jank that it has. The lack of screen effects during bullet time is a big plus for me, and the inaccuracy of the weapons makes the game like an action movie in many ways.

The graphic novel cutscenes aged incredibly well - it was a great design choice, as the very few in-game cutscenes are a bit dated.

Overall, I love this game, and will replay it many times. The story is great, but not overbearing at all, so, unlike the third game, you aren't constantly interrupted by cutscenes. The level design is solid, and I found myself reloading saves over and over to keep killing henchmen in different ways.

I would wholly recommend this game to anyone who values gameplay over graphics, and if I were to give it a score out of ten, I'd give it an 8 or 9. Great game by great devs.

lots of fun, especially with friends or a significant other. i played thru season 1 back when it came out but never any further, and she had seen PewDiePie play it wayyy back in the day (crazy how time flies, we both graduated a decent time ago and just wow), so it's a great experience as we decide or disagree on choices. its great bonding and a great time. the story does a good job at keeping your choices morally ambiguous; we have chosen for our playthrough that we will always side with Kenny no matter what, and even trying to follow that leads to some unexpected outcomes. great series, looking forward to seeing how it ends.
