I've never been a fan of this genre but the Danganronpa games have recieved such glowing praise from everyone that plays them that I figured $13 was worth risking on the first game. I couldn't be happier with that decision. The first game was one of the most unique, interesting, and compelling single player games I've experienced in years. After completing the first game I immediately purchased the sequel that everyone seemed to like even more. I'll be honest, for the first few chapters I didn't find myself enjoying this game as much as the first one. I still liked it but I genuinely cared about the characters from the first game so much that starting with an entirely new cast meant this sequel was fighting an uphill battle from the start. Despite that obstacle this game has managed to easily become one of my favorites that I've ever played. A gameplay loop of build relationships/alliances to survive, introduction of the motivation of the week (ie you'll all starve until someone kills), investigate the murder of one or more of those same people you're trying to work with, trial to figure out/prove whodunnit, elaborate execution of the convicted, and having every day end with the philosophical ponderings of what can only be described as a psychotic teddy bear is something I never I never would have guessed would be so compelling. The games would easily fall apart if they weren't fantastically written and neatly wrapped in their colorful art style that belies a series with some of the darkest tones I've ever experienced in a game but they manage to hold together and pull it off beutifully. I look forward to what the future holds in store for this series.

tl;dr I enjoyed this seies much more than I ever thought I would and highly recommend it.
