Negative only if you're looking for a quirky fun game. It's for speedrunners and speedrunners only, difficult to master not rewarding at all.

Looks pretty, but horrible controls, boring level design, and huge difficulty spikes. It's a worst case scenario where I want to see the content but the gameplay is just so boring I can't play it.

A solid 12-hour game, with great characters and solid story. It's not one of these tough as nails platformers and that's a good thing, the game mechanics are fun while making for nice puzzles to the end.

More pixel hunting than puzzle solving. I had to rely on guides to progress, simply because "hints" are often scattered on seemingly unrelated items (an antique lock's code on a contemporary poster for example), or simply too difficult to see, one key item is supposed to be hinted at by a glow coming from behind furniture for example, but the graphics are too dull to see it. Many hints are also beyond normal viewpoint, like on roofs or looking down on ground level. A far cry from the clever "in plain sight" design of the "room" games.

The art looks awesome in the screenshots, but playing this game just isn't worth it. The tutorial insists on the importance of parrying and shooting with perfect timing, but doesn't bother expaining how. As a result, the already hard game is made much harder when trying to play "right", with basic enemies wiping you out when failing. In all the let's plays I checked, the player just spams cheap attack, which is actually much easier. Based on the reported play length and endings, the game is a waste of time.

Voted down only because it's not much of a game by itself, it's mostly a platform to compete for high scores, not really a game like super meat boy or slime-san, where completing a level is rewarding by itself without having to care about high scores or time challenges.

The controls are a bit obtuse at first, but in the end it's a satisfying indie game with some clever puzzles.

This game is notoriously hard, but not the good kind of hard. The controls are poor, jump are unreliable, flying enemies will appear to make you miss this platform... this is a game made by someone who remembers these classic games without understanding what made them great. I'll play something else for the same reason we stopped playing these games: there are just more fun ones now.

I really, really wanted to like this game. It looks great, the gameplay is interesting, but the devs insisted on a no-controller policy, and while the keyboard controls work, they're... not fun. It relies heavily on a slo-mo mechanic, which means a lot of the game is spent aiming the dash direction with the mouse while everything is slowed down. Once again, not fun. I really think a controller would have made the game more dynamic.

Think Flashback, but much bigger and deeper than it seems.
