Before you read this review, I have to make something clear: "Let the Cat In" is possibly one of the greatest games I have ever played, period. It’s blend of truly fantastic gameplay mixed with a deep, intriguing, multi-layered narrative, plus stunning visuals makes it a blast to play, and an experience I believe everyone should go through at least once in their lives, you won’t regret it. Now, let me tell you In much more depth what makes this game so great.

GAMEPLAY
--------------------------------------
In this game, the goal is simple, solve a physics based puzzle. But, the game has depth, you see, as you are given multiple tools and methods to solve the puzzles. The goal is achieved when the yarn ball hits the doggy door, causing it to open. Overall, the gameplay is incredibly addicting and refreshing with each level, and is possibly the most fun I've ever had solving puzzles in any game out there.

STORY
--------------------------------------
At first glance, the story is about an elderly woman letting cats into her house for a vague reason. Due to the setting, we can assume the elderly woman is letting the cat(s) in due to it getting late, and her fear of something bad potentially happening to the cat(s). But, after deeply analyzing all of the promotional material and gameplay mechanics of the game, I believe the story goes much, much deeper than that. You see, in the trailer, the elderly woman (whom I shall refer to as “Granny”, from this point onward”) can be quoted saying “who let the cat in”, in a distressed manner. The first thing that came to my mind would be that you are playing as someone sabotaging Granny’s day by letting a cat into her home. “But why?”, was the question burning in my mind. Well, Granny appears to be old, which means she might be weak at heart. Could this be an assassination attempt on Granny?
This was the story I had let accepted for quite some time, until I noticed something upon re-watching the trailer for what seemed the 100th time: Granny is the one letting the cat in. To make things even more convincing, when I finally decided to download the game, Granny refers to the cat as “My Cat”, meaning Granny owns the cat. Now, as of right now, I bet you’re asking “Why would Granny be wondering who let the cat in if she was the one who let it in”? And to that, I have a simple answer: Alzheimer’s. Based on appearance alone, we can assume Granny is somewhere in her late eighties to early nineties, so it’s safe to assume she might possibly have Alzheimer’s, and a severe case at that. So, what have we learned? We’ve learned that “Let the Cat In” tells a deep story about an elderly woman, attempting to let a cat in her home, likely as a form of companionship in her final dying moments, but can barely even recognize the pet she has raised and taken care of since birth due to her severe case of Alzheimer’s disease. Overall, I could go on for hours about the rich lore of LtCI and its universe, from Granny’s past as an archeologist, to the themes of racism and diversity that is explored in the game’s various cosmetic items.

GRAPHICS
--------------------------------------
Let the Cat In’s visuals are in all honesty stellar, with its extremely cute and appealing style. Not only are the graphics cute, they’re also extremely simplistic. The common gamer might be disgusted by the idea of a game without all sorts of fancy-schmancy shaders and special effects, but Let the Cat In pulls it off with such grace, I’m surprised more games haven’t taken inspiration. Overall, the graphics in this game are extremely beautiful, and I’m ashamed I can’t talk more about them, as words won’t do them justice.

CONCLUSIONS
----------------------------------------
In conclusion, Let the Cat In is one of the best experiences you can have while playing a game, due to its mixture of beautiful graphics, one of the deepest narratives out there, and addicting gameplay with endless possibilities. So, go do yourself a favor, pick this game up.
