I wanted to love this game because it's cute as hell. Athmosphere, animations, lore and all are really good. Plays pretty well and overall the setup is great.

But they chose the worst type of missions to fill the game with. I don't think there's a single person that likes fetch missions. And this game chose to put them at the forefront. Bouncing between fetch missions and others that simply drag way too much till the point they drain your energy.

That's a lot of work and love put to build a game with such an abusive set of missions.

I don't mind backtracking if the mission is interesting. But going a 100 times through the same places trying to find 17 roses, 10 types of mushrooms (8 number of each), burning 13 banners, X sets of clothing with 6 pieces each, 7 beetles, 10 ash urns, X ingredients for a drink, X ingredients to dye someone's beard, more than 20 different keys, lighting 9 candles in very separate places IN ORDER or they RESET, and more.

There are so many things in this game's presentation that I love. But it drained my energy till the last drop to the point I uninstalled it. I wanted to have fun and I ended up having anxiety.

So if you hate these type of missions like me, and games with missions that overstate their welcome, this is definetly not for you.

I was so sure I was gonna like it. Instead I dropped it because this game bored tf out of me.

The switch to over the shoulder perspective got really old really fast. I beat the first game twice. I got into the second one and my instant feeling was "I am not sure I want more of this". And in fact I didn't.

The game is more narrative driven than the first one. To the point of abuse. And maybe some people like those parts, but the topics it touches (parenting and marriage and wife and husband and gods and prophecy and you killed my son and I will kill you for it, and I also had another kid that I killed, and kid and kid and wife and ♥♥♥♥) are 0 interesting to me, I couldn't care less. They annoy me instead of motivating me.

They discuss their role as gods. And they can jump and recieve hits that break buildings and rocks, but cannot climb to a wall because it has a plate, while the wall itself has half a meter where you could grab to on its left and right side. Very stupid and inconsistent design choices that clash with the experienced and thoughtful personality that Kratos is supposed to have and the things the game shows you he is capable of doing.

I don't know, everything feels very affected. Taking itself way too serious for what it is.

And the tips. God please the tips. I have never felt treated like I am as braindead as this game has treated me. I put the tips on low, because I couldn't deactivate it. And I swear they don't even let you check things before telling you everything you need to do. I arrive to an island, Mimir: here is the key to that door. Mmm, ok. I get the key. Now we can go to that island (I already visited the place I know where it is, and there's only 1 door). I get to the island and Mimir: This is the island, go up that place and find the door (...) I climb the wall and in front of the door "use the key on that door brrrathah". And I was on the verge of rage quitting and it kept going. I open the door, and while the door was still opening and there is this drum "hit that drum bbrrrrathah". WTF is this? The Kratos I know would smash that head silent right then and there.

And all very straight, very dude, very bro. But not in a funny way. Kratos sounds way too affected to me.

The game looks gorgeous, performance is nice and production is great, as Sony games are. But I am surprised, I didn't expect to care as little as to go watch the rest on youtube.

Way too deep and insistent on things it doesn't need to be, but too shallow on others I wish it put more focus on. Btw, I felt Atreus way more fun to play with than Kratos.

If the next games are going to be like this I can tell right now that I am dropping them.

Don't get fooled by the playtime, I played half of it.

Anyway, that's my rant. Because I am aware that this has more of a rant than it has of review.

Despite having had such a disappointing experience with it I don't think the game is bad, and other people will dig what it presents. That's why I will leave it as recommended. But ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I was bored and annoyed so hard.

It's just perfect for me. If you know the original manga/anime you'll see what I'm talking about. So much love for its source material. So well presented story-wise, with its feet on the ground just as I like it. Some mechanics that we've seen in other games very well implemented, with a lot of tributes. And no matter how crazy it gets gameplay/storywise, in the end it all makes perfect sense. I loved it so much I fininshed in 1 sitting.

(From here, my original review/first impression, when the game was in early acces):

I just started it today and I finished it in 1 sitting, with 100% of the map complete. That's how much I liked it. If you know the original manga/anime, this game is filled with so much love and respect for it. Characters I didn't expect to see at all appear here. The way the story is presented, with its feet on the ground...

(From here, when game was early access review) This is amazing. I just discovered that this exists a moment ago and I've already bought it and played it. A fusion of Symphony of the Night style and feel and one of my favorite animes ever.

Passed the hype and the emotion, the game actually plays amazing and I've seen clever mechanics there, with the spirits, the bow...

I've never thought it that way but overlaping Alucard to Deedlith actually fits. They have both similar body structure and outfit (height, hair, sword, shoulder armor, cape...) and this elegant/etherial feel, so it really looks good.

It left me with such good vibes I stopped playing, because I want the full experience. Can't wait.

I'm really impressed with it so far. Optimization is great, visuals are stunning, controls are smooth (though I'm a total noob in driving spaceships, realistic or arcade...), and the representation of space is the type that makes you breathe deep.

Despite I don't usually like roguelikes, in this game it has the balance to be there and not bother.

It is what I was looking for and what I imagined it to be, and to feel like. I backed it as soon as I knew from it and today I realize I don't regret it a bit.

Nunca he jugado una aventura gráfica entera. Nunca me han atraído especialmente.

Sin embargo, las sensaciones que he experimentado en 80 minutos que pretendía dedicar a probarlo un rato es de lo más real y sincero que he sentido en años de videojuegos.
