Fun gameplay, great world design, and compelling storytelling. HDR is really well implemented, ray traced lighting and shadows are good, ray traced reflections are a bit disappointing (ray tracing not as well optimized as other games that use it). Overall, a really visually pleasing game with a fun and compelling story with plenty of exploration to be had.

Implementing EAC (easy anti cheat) in a social game is dumb. The devs are on a power trip because they're disappointed modders are making better optimizations than they can (fixing framerates, improving UI to a usable state, etc).

Gonna use other options until they reverse this decision, you should too.

Its a good game, but it freezes up often with no way to recover and save the game. The screen will freeze up but the game is still running in the background. Autosave is also way too infrequent, only saving once every in game year. Wish the autosave would do every 10 minutes or something.

Technical issues aside, it is a fun game. I've gotten to the point where water is forming on the surface. At this point, it seems like there might be an issue with running out of resources at some point in the game, but maybe there's technology to allow you to harness resources after you've dried up the deposits, not sure.

It's a lot like Surviving Mars, but way more in depth and quite a bit more fun.

What else can I say other than this is the game that got me into PC gaming as a kid. An absolute classic RTS game that everyone should try. Also, incredibly crazy that the devs continue to support this game over a decade later - especially with some optimizations for mod creators to get even more out of this awesome game. Do yourself a favor and buy it already!

UPDATE to the update: 11/24 - I haven't been having crashes as often, but I am still experiencing them more frequently than at launch. I've been manually saving multiple times while playing as I'm in fear of losing progress constantly. I'm also *not* using the continue option when loading a game, rather I'm going and manually selecting my save game. This seems to be a more stable way of loading saves.

UPDATED REVIEW: As of 11/21 the game crashes A LOT now after the hotfix that was pushed to 'fix crashes'. Before this hotfix I only crashed a couple times, and only ever once or twice in a play session. Since that hotfix, my game constantly crashes. Last night I crashed nearly 10 times. I can't recommend this hot mess of a game until they fix this problem.

Good improvements on the last game, some tedious mechanics gone but some were added. Compared to the last game at launch, this is leaps and bounds improved. Compared to the last game with all the DLC and updates, it's a slight improvement. I expect that the developers will continue to support this game the same way they did the last, and many improvements will come. I think this game is worth buying - and I've only finished the campaign (aka, the tutorial - the campaign isn't much more than that) and am looking forward to the Chaos Theory mode (aka, the actual campaign).

Not only is the gameplay fun and unique, but the community is fun and endlessly meme-able.

I don't have tons of hours in the game, but I have progressed through the career mode enough to feel confident in recommending this game.

TONS of options to really customize and make your zoo your own. My only frustration so far is that the tool to place paths is ABYSMAL. Everything else works pretty darn well - you're able to customize what your shops and staff buildings look like, you can create an exhibit that doesn't have fences all around (aka you can use water or a steep hill as part of your boundary). Boggles my mind how much you really can do with the tools at your disposal.

Graphics are pretty great as well. AI seems to function decently.

FPS in VR, pretty fun. Wish seated play was supported though (if you need to sit for a bit you'll be crouching the whole time in game)

Its fun and challenging enough. Decent amount of micromanagement. 9/10
