I don't think I can do justice to this game in words, but I'll try.

I play tons of metroidvanias. I play a little bit of everything, but that's probably the genre I play the most. This is without a doubt my favorite one.

When I first played it, it seemed like a normal metroidvania, one where you go here, you get this upgrade, that lets you go somewhere else... And that was fine, I already loved it when it was just that. Cute characters, mesmerizing music that made the levels feel like these weird, cool, mysterious and otherworldly places. It had this enchanting vibe that I can't quite explain, but I was fascinated by what may look to someone else like just a cheaply made game. Then there's the bullet hell boss fights with incredible music. A meaty postgame with a fantastic true final boss that wraps everything up perfectly...

But then I took a look at the achievement list, and it blew my mind. The things you can actually do in this game! The way you can break sequence, all the different ways you can play this game, the seemingly essential upgrades that aren't essential at all! I mastered the secret techniques and found another whole dimension to the game. I haven't played it in a long time now and I haven't done all of the things that I would like to do in this game yet, but I haven't stopped loving it for a single second. It's a game that I'll always keep in my heart and I know I'll keep revisiting it over and over again. I'm patiently looking forward to the next game in this style by this creator.
