Buggy but fun as heck

So far I'm going to recommend this because I've been having an absolute blast. The stealth mechanics are solid, the environments are gorgeously designed, and the narration is really great, reminds me a bit of Bastion sometimes in that regard.

But be warned. Even though I'm recommending I've ran into two game breaking glitches in the first two hours of playing. One where an item I needed to progress locked to an AI character and they took it with them, and second when I lost all cursors and couldn't interact with the world anymore. I had to restart on both occasions. Oh, and it crashed once outright.

Mind you, where there is polish it is really polished. A lot of the mechanics feel great to use, and overall the game feels wonderful to play.

But yeah, be warned. I'm still going to play more because I love the gameplay.

If you like bioshock, deus ex-type games, and detective/espionage sims, I think you'll love this, too!

Absolutely beautiful! A lot of introspective themes, some a bit dark, but gorgeous nonetheless. Still just as fabulous as the first!

Absolutely stay away

This dev thinks that the way to handle any sort of criticism is by blocking people after having mocked them. I called them out for practically copy-and-pasting the interface from Rust into their game (which they did) and they replied "metafish, Did you know that there are thousands of games and movies of the same genre? In which much is very similar to each other? Apparently not. Now you know. :steamhappy:" <-- this is not the way to talk to anyone you don't want to upset, by laughing at them and blocking them.

Apparently not... You're right. https://www.gamingonlinux.com/uploads/articles/article_media/1500064203ouch.jpg

Say what you want but this is literally the only other game with that interface design I've ever seen OTHER THAN RUST. So excuse me for not believing the "thousands of games from the same genre line"

This is just another crappy survival game that is only damaging the genre. Achievements that are for walking into invisible walls, AI still in T-pose in the first area, moments that instantly teleport you into other areas without context, non-interactive AI with an "achievement" for not being able to interact with them, no sprint (at least in the first zones), graphics look like Windows 95, and there is no option to change any of the audio settings.

Just play Rust.

I played through the first two before this edition came out. The second is definitely the more fleshed out envisioning of the concept, but they are both fun experiences in their own right! I personally liked the minimalism of the first one over the complexity of the second.

Highly recommend for a good, simple, easy-to-play RPG-esque game that is good for all ages!

Great game, great port. An absolute must-play game that holds up to this day. 10/10

A worthy successor to Sunless Seas and some of the best writing I've ever encountered in a video game to boot!

It's like Firefly the TV show but in Victorian supernatural space-faring steampunk Britain.

$60 base game isn't the full game

I honestly can't recommend this game, even after all the time I spent playing it. The entire game was a buildup to the moment you discover Atlantis. Then, all that work to find the bloody key to open the door and you can't enter because it's a DLC package. The full game price is not selling the full ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game. It's half the game. The rest is in Atlantis, which is either $40 with the package or will be at least $25 on it's own. You're really looking at a $100 game.

This is all kind of a bummer, too because I had fun playing this game and thought it was the most solid Assassin's Creed game since two. I'm really tired of games releasing with only half the story at full price and then selling you the rest of the story for more money. DLC should be extra content to expand the game not content that is necessary for the world to feel finished.

I'm glad to see these AAA developers starting to be a bit more engaged with the community but man do they need to curb their ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ greed because it's getting sickening.
