Before the short review, obligatory LOL 420 BLAZE IT ECKS-DEE!!!1!ONE! (See play time at time of review)

It's got some regression from previous entries; customization is weaker, no 3D spotting is a mixed-bag, no team switching or auto-balancing and graphically nice but pretty unoptimized and visually cluttered, no support for DLSS 2 or 3 or FSR.

That being said, I really enjoy this game as a whole. I like the guns, the setting, and the audio is excellent. 3D headphone surround works very well, and gunplay feels pretty awesome and being a medic is very rewarding in this title.

Early Access Review
Needs to be F2P or open-source, otherwise it will stay dead as it's been for years. Great core gameplay though.

Early Access Review
It's much too early. Bought it out of curiosity but uh, spartan isn't really even an adequate term to describe the lack of.. everything. Devs were honest about it, just thought I might find more to be interested in I guess.

I used to ADORE this game. ADORE! Buuuuut I gotta be honest, it's aged like milk. The plot was always bad, but modern controls and graphics have improved significantly - trying to go back over a decade later is really, really rough. I am not recommending this game but its not because there's something that's changed - its just that I wouldn't recommend this game to a new player in 2024 and expect them to have a good time.

I'll keep this short-and-sweet. Dying Light is an utterly fantastic game. It's got a short and cliche-filled but still very compelling story with lovable characters and utterly despicable characters and it has undeniable charm and wit. Plenty of moments in this game gave me a hearty laugh. On top of this, I showed the game to my fiancee several years ago and while at first she was underwhelmed, she eventually got to the point where she's now got somewhere around 150-200 more hours of gameplay than me, lmao. We bonded a lot over this game, spent countless hours in co-op dinking around, grinding legend levels, doing community events and challenges together, and exploring the countryside in the DLC. We also spent a TON of time seeking out the free cosmetics and loot in said DLC.

Dying Light 2 was okay, but it pales in comparison to the first. I'd had high hopes for the second in that I just wanted more of the first with some spit-shine, but this is a case where the original just can't be beat. It's a real treat.

Overwatch 2 ruined the game, in my opinion. I bought the OG Overwatch ages ago. I stopped playing a good 4 years or so ago because the lootboxes were an unfortunately tempting gambling mechanic and I had spent more on those than I had on the game's upfront cost itself. That said, the base game was good.

It just feels.. awful now and I strongly dislike the shift in player count and how matchmaking is done. I strongly dislike the monetisation scheme and I despise that they shut down access to the original Overwatch and forced original players into the F2P sequel - so I don't play anymore. I won't be strong-armed into a worse version of a game that already had issues in the first place. I will not play a game from a company that steals a game I PAID for and gives me a dumpster fire as a consolation prize.

EDIT 2 years later: Unsurprisingly, basically abandoned in the exact same state it was in in 2023. Yawn. Still janky and unpolished, not worth.

I would have recommended this up to a few months ago, but the devs have switched gears. No updates or continued improvements at ALL this year and they're focusing on a new battle royale game. They claim that development of this new title won't impact contractors, however actions speak far louder than words. Especially from game dev studios and publishers.

On top of this, the game doesn't feel finished at all. It's competing with Pavlov but feels significantly less polished. Recoil is non-existent, gun sounds are awful compared to pavlov, graphics and graphical details are overall unpolished when compared to pavlov, and base gameplay on the whole is just cheap and mediocre feeling compared to pavlov. I started playing Pavlov and Contractors about the same time, by the way. I had no bias going into either title whatsoever. Contractors has the potential to be the better game, but they seem to have abandoned it for their shiny new battle royale title.

Avoid unless something changes - this game will be on the downturn in no time flat.

Simply excellent - Even Half-Life Alyx could learn from this.

This will be short. Essentially, it's exactly as stated on the tin - it's Half-Life 2 but now it's in VR. It plays amazingly well and has plenty of features for comfort and locomotion. It's my now-preferred way to revisit this old classic as it's surprisingly immersive trying to gun-down manhacks as they menacingly hurl themselves at you, whizzing around slopes and corners in your airboat, and mowing down hundreds of civil protection officers.

As compared to Alyx, the game is obviously just an adaptation of VR controls and viewpoint put into a non-vr title so obviously the game does not hesitate to send swarms of angry bees civil protection, zombies, headcrabs, and antlions and really challenge you. It also gives you the full array of the cool weapons we've come to love from Half-Life 2. The Alyx weapon pool is extremely spartan. It allows customisation and they are implemented well, however the limited quantity of weapons is disappointing regardless. Also, unlike in HL: Alyx, the game allows up to 30 degrees of forward / backward tilt in the menu to set your gun angle to something comfortable. The default more realistically matches the grip of a pistol to that of your motion controller, but games like Contractors, H3VR and Pavlov VR all have weapons tilted down by 15 degrees which feels (imo) more comfortable. Alyx does not allow for this change. Also unlike in HL: Alyx, you can truly sprint, jump around, hold weapons with two hands, and experience a far more exciting way to play. This isn't to say Alyx is bad - it's phenominal - I just mean that Alyx tries too hard to play it safe with no room for customisation for those of us who have gotten our VR legs and want a full and exciting experience while in VR - not a super-safe-for-vr experience.

That being said, there are still oddities - I am unsure of what some of the options in the camera orientation section do (Such as differences between 1st person no comfort, fixed horizon and decoupled sprint I think? And also teleport doesn't work for me?), the game wasn't made for two-handed grabbing of objects sadly, and the visuals are definitely heavily dated though surprisingly not awful. Those last two points however are not the fault of the developers of this mod though.

Its an amazing way to play this game. If you have a VR headset, this is a must-have title.

GTA V's story mode is a classic - stupidly fun and very well made and polished. I have 451.4 hours on record as of this review - of about maybe 2 of which were online. I'm saying I DON'T recommend this game because rockstar's practices and the horrific state of cheating in the multiplayer which can actually HARM YOUR PC together make me feel a lot of disrespect towards them.

I pirated the game, beat the game, then purchased the game, then re-beat the game. My only regret is that I need to wait for a sequel.

F*CK ME, what an awesome game.
