Been waiting ages for this game to come out. One of the very few games I've bought at full price within 24 hours of release in recent years.

Worth every dollar and appeals to fans of The Behemoth & Alien Hominid, whether old or newcomers.

Dodge-rolling has i-frames now instead of being a useless suicidal move, which is cool and a game-changing improvement. The game makes sure to show this off during the tutorial, too.

Hope this game blows up since it's kind of under the radar right now and has been even during development.

Game starts off quite slow, but it finds a lot of ways to reel you back in for "just one more replay."

By the time you've come to your senses and decided to take a break from playing, you've already unlocked an array of characters, weapons, upgrades, and game mechanics for future play sessions. And you'll find out that there's still more that you need to unlock. Way more.

Even though the game looks super generic, visually halfhearted, and has no real writing whatsoever, none of that matters, because the viciously addictive gameplay trumps all of those marks. It's a really great break from all of the boring and rehashed games that've been pumped out in recent times.

There's pretty much no hand-holding and it's insanely easy to learn things along the way on your own. It's absolutely bonkers how easy it is to get sucked into this game.

Hell, this game costs less than half a day's worth of food.

Quitting drugs would be less of a challenge.

like-minded friend egged me into buying this game during the steam summer sale.

at a glance, this looks like something that you feel you shouldn't've experienced while, say, staying up past 3 AM and encountering something outlandish on late-night television in the 2000s/early 2010s. think of adult swim, but with a certain je ne sais quoi. or maybe an inexplicable internet animation that got underneath your skin that you just "had to be there for" when it had 371 views and either stayed at the triple-digits or boomed to lower-six-digit views because it got coverage from a c-list internet personality or two that thought it was wacky.

went into it expecting some sort of memepost created by a dev undergoing a constant never-ending 24/7 schizo meltdown.

i'm probably not wrong when i say the dev's always having a schizo meltdown, but this game actually gets stupid philosophical.

visually, i'd say this game encapsulates the sensation of being terminally depressed to the point of where you just constantly dissociate whilst suffering from singularity-grade treatment-resistant major depressive disorder. everything looks like garbage, but after a while, you just learn to work with it and you become okay with it. it becomes your new normal.

the gameplay is actually pretty good. it's frustrating as hell when you're trying to learn the ropes, because you're playing as the hitman/black market equivalent of a wageslave, but you'll learn how to work with it eventually. this game has an interesting learning curve where almost every item is good, viable, advantageous, or similar... at a cost.

the soundtrack is garbage on purpose. i can't really defend it, even as someone that listens to industrial noise music, which is notorious for literally sounding like incomprehensible noise to the point of where certain artists are just outright controversial in a concerning manner. the soundtrack just fits the tone of the game, and it's dynamic, which means that things will pick up and feel super nerve-racking during combat scenarios, like rockstar and overkill's dynamic scores in their games.

i fully intend to get absolutely high as a kite and sit through a self-induced severe panic attack as i play this game. forcing me to try and kill enemies to drown out the noise as if i'm a panicked animal suffering from rabies.

pretty damn good game considering i went in blind with no more than a "LOL, yowza-wowza, this is SUCH a weird schizopost game xD" mindset, only to come out feeling pretty invested by the end of my first couple of hours playing.

would recommend if you're in your twenties, monotonous as hell, numb, and hate video games.

bonus points if you have experience with working in a dead-end environment to fit within the game's theme. i just got out of that pit, but this game does well to help recapture the culture and feeling of working several questionable past jobs albeit in a very absurdist manner.

modern doom and other boomer shooters if they weren't so painfully boring

also it's postal, but if postal and ren & stimpy had a child that they left to fend for itself

Early Access Review
this game has so much potential even though it just came out, but it feels like more of a proof-of-concept early alpha rather than an early access beta.

devs seem to be super communicative with the playerbase and are constantly on top of the game, bug fixes and everything

could be one of 2022's most entertaining casual titles to play with friends. looking forward to seeing this neat little animal crossing/rust mashup grow.

EDIT: i changed my review because this game went downhill and it sucks
