"I wonder who the kill– WHAT THE **** IT’S MICHAEL ******* MYERS"

Welp, it's been 3 years since our first meeting. I immediately fell in love with DBD's gloomy atmosphere piercing shrieks of Meg Thomas strung on a hook and started playing.
Since I haven’t clocked 1000 hours, I decided that at least I must write a review to give honor to the game of my youth. The game which struck my interest for survival horrors and my love for Leon Kennedy...

So, here's a perspective of an average 🌸girrrl-gaymer🌸 who's been playing in middle ranks and never had any great claims to skills or victories.


In short, Dead by Daylight is an online asymmetric multiplayer survival horror. You can choose your side depending on your preferences: if you're a lone wolf who wants to make people suffer – feel free to choose a killer and SMASH them with your hammer. Or CUT them with your chainsaw. Or BASH their heads in with your axe. Or... nah, whatever.
If you're a sociable person and are really into playing with your friends (or into mocking poor loners), pick the survivors' side and try your best to blind the killer to start all the gens to make it out of there.



1) Diversity.
You never get bored of this game. You have countless numbers of different perks and maps; every combination leads you to a different result. Are you tired of doing the generators? Screw your "Prove thyself" and a tool box, pick a flashlight and go for a run. Are you tired of looping? Go help your teammates – there is always someone wounded/on a hook. Are you tired of hanging on a hook and craving revenge? Make everybody pay. Play as a killer.
And even if you got bored of ALL the killers, ALL the survivors and ALL the maps – be sure a new update is already coming. For me that was a boon and a curse, but we'll talk about it later.

2) Highly cooperative nature.
If you like playing with your friends, it's a perfect game to have a great time together (or if you don't have any, you can always find them! There are plenty of ways to get in touch with the community.) Perfect choice for gathering at someone's place and having a REAL gaymers' night 💋

3) It's almost always fun.
Playing DBD, you will face some hilarious moments all the time, especially when playing in a team. And generally, it gives you all sorts of different emotions: sometimes you're scared, sometimes you're furious and sometimes you're in tears (because you're laughing your ass off when your bruh got killed at the gates or maybe because you were the one who was mercilessly and unfairly tunneled and killed at the very beginning of the match...) So, it's always a lottery and it's always fun.

4) Backseat potential
I started my DBD journey as a backseat gamer and I could spend long hours watching someone playing it, so that's a good game for streamers or people who want to share this experience with their non-gaming partners.


1) Your knowledge frequently gets outdated.
And it's quite annoying. DBD doesn't forgive long breaks, so if you don't feel like playing for some time, be ready that by the moment you'll be ready to come back all of your favorite perks will be nerfed and now you'll be bound to learn new maps, killers and abilities you didn't use to play with before. On the whole, it's very difficult to keep up with all of this stuff.

2) The result of each match is highly randomised.
That's not a big disadvantage when you're playing for fun, but it can be quite frustrating for the people who came here to WIN mazafaka!!! The victory here depends on a ton of factors: skills of each of the survivors, their perks, their tools, the map (some of them are killer-sided, some of them are survivor-sided), the killer, his perks and add-ons and so on and so forth. And I believe that's the main reason for all of these whinings about poor balance. I can agree that in the situations when good survivors gather in a party and play using Discord or something, it gets harder for a killer to win a match. But to be honest, for me it's no difference, I get equally strung up at the Gideon Meat Plant and AutoHaven Wreckers, in a party or in solo 😎🚬

3) Cheats and bugs
Yep, cheating happens. Mostly in high ranks. Unfortunately, you can do nothing about it and if you meet such a person in a match and throw a report afterwards, they’re highly unlikely to be banned for that. But mostly I heard about it from some streamers and never saw anything like this except for one case which happened to my friend.
As for bugs... For me that was a rare case. Moreover, they can be quite funny.

4) Toxic community
That’s quite arguable to my taste. Literally EVERYBODY talks about this, and I’ve also met some toxic guys in the after-game chat, BUT! Most of the players I had a chance to chat with were cuties who cheered each other up or typed nothing but "gg". I don't know, really, I just believe that you're highly unlikely to meet a jackass when not acting like a jackass yourself. For justice's sake though, it's worth mentioning that playing on a killer's side can be a bit more stressful due to some people with a very low self-esteem a big urge for teabagging and humiliating you with all the available ways. But again, for me that was more of an exception.

I’m sure there are many people who don’t share my opinion and that’s totally fine. For me, despite some drawbacks, this game can be very enjoyable and I'm genuinely grateful for the experience I had there 💜
