Challenge is fine. Some builds cruise through the DLC as if it was easy mode. There's gameplay opportunity for everyone.

My only issue was performance and the horrible anti-cheat program they use. First few days of DLC release I couldn't even play online because the stupid "blue bear" kept detecting inappropriate activity where there was none and it sort of ruined my early experience. After several attempts to fix it finally worked and I got to play the game online, even though under worse performance than base game.

Lore is amazing. We finally learn the origins of Marika and the truth about Mohg. People complaining about it are mostly entitled fanfic players who had exact expectations on NPCs' righteousness in a decadent world where history is clearly gritty and messed up.

I usually avoid buying early access like the plague. This one has been a welcoming surprise!

I was shocked to find out the amount of content released on the very first week of early access release. There is both an underworld and surface path, which is equally fun and yet very different; in resources, scenery, traps, enemies, guardians (boss) and even upgrades. Pretty happy that Chronos (big bag guy) fight was also included in two phases and the mechanics is really super fun to learn/overcome. Having done pretty much all of the content released so far, I feel satisfied and will gladly wait for more incredible content until full release.

I wish more early access games would mirror this sort of quality.

As I skip almost all of dialogue, my review focus on gameplay and mechanics. And they are FUN!

Quickly became one of my favorite roguelites ever, on par with Hades.

It's a fun game. I feel like it could had been so much more. There is very little sense of development to your skills or progress to really be like most roguelikes. It's more like smaller challenge levels with different flavor.
Also quite a bit of balancing problems imo. Too many situational traps that are not worth spending much gold upgrading and morale runs are always risky as you can get the wrong combination of heroes in a champion invasion and be nearly impossible to win. That's because morale has not much variability like the different types of damage.

Nonetheless a great game to spend time and have fun, definitely worth buying.

Engaging game, fantastic story and characters. It didn't age particularly well but it's still pretty worth it.

One of the best games I've played in a while and likely top 3 roguelike games ever.

It's incredibly entertaining. It keeps pushing you to go forward, to collect more, to drive the story forward and to complete things that at first seemed impossible.
Took me about 3 attempts for Megaera, 1 attempt for Hydra, 10 attempts for Theseus/mino, 4 attempts for normal Hades and 3 attempts for extreme measures 3 phases Hades.

Now 100h in I'm at heat 16 and going to grind my way to 32 heat.

I had a persistent crash problem in a specific area that was solved by sending a report to the devs. Aside from that it ran smoothly enough.

The story is very simple, cliche even. But that's alright, it's fun for what it is. Not every story has to be of epic proportions, handling farmer's cattle issues and cheese mobsters in the countryside has its charms. I suggest buying it at a discount and playing without expectations.

A touching and inspiring story that approaches a very difficult subject to us all.
