An absolute nostalgia masterpiece.

I remember first playing Shenmue I back in 2000 and Shenmue II in 2001 on the SEGA Dreamcast. A lot of my friends hated it because it was too slow paced and they were used to fast paced arcade style games. I enjoyed the Shenmue games because they were so advanced for their time. There were no other games like them. I loved being able to explore a huge environment, have random conversations with people in the streets, interact with so many things, finding many ways to make money, get jobs, pay rent for a hotel room and having to pay it on time or the manager would nag me to death about it... the experience of simulating real-life situations at this level was just something you didn't see in video games at that time. The level of detail in the Shenmue games were amazing and the soundtracks were awesome

Little did I know I would have to wait 18 years for Shenmue III to come out and continue the story. What a nightmare that was. I mean all of the Shenmue fans thought it would never happen and honestly we were beginning to lose hope. So I was super happy when the Shenmue games were revived and Shenmue III was finally released after so many years.

Now I will say the Shenmue games are not for everyone. But for those who like Chinese and Japanese culture, who like to take their time with a story and explore and appreciate the details then I recommend you give the Shenmue games a try. It will not disappoint.

Shenmue I and II will forever be among my favorite games. :)
