A very solid squad PvE game in the style of Vermintide / L4D, with outstanding aesthetic and sound design, solid progression (since the recent overhauls), and a demonstrated commitment to adding content and major changes. 4/5 - Recommend to anyone interested in the genre, or in 40k generally.

For Democracy

Memes aside, easily one of the best feeling / looking co-op PVE games in memory. Easily worth the price tag. Good cadence of new content so far, and the dynamic game world keeps it pretty fresh in the meantime.

This is a very casual city builder that, to me, strikes the right balance between having enough systems that require me to actually have a plan when I'm building a settlement, but which are forgiving enough that there's not a significant consequence to playing suboptimally / focusing on aesthetics.

If for no other reason, buy this game for one of the most satisfying building experiences / animations of any city builder - watching the connections between your towers spring up procedurally and take into account things like height by adding cargo lifts, or long stretches across water by adding draw bridges, is mesmerizing.

As someone who has played a pretty significant amount of games inspired by DF, there's nothing quite like the original. The updates made for the steam version are very, very, VERY nice - people playing for the first time probably won't appreciate these changes but any vets will. I especially recommend to anyone who has tried to play in the past but was turned off by the appearance / lack of tutorial, as both of these have been addressed.

Regardless of who you are, newcomers and old timers alike, the price is a steal for the value you'll get out of the game if you like colony management. I highly recommend.

Overall rating - 4/5 - recommend with minor caveats

Play if:
-youre a 40k fan
-youre a fan of turn based tactics w/ a meta strategy layer
-youre alive, because only in death does duty end

Avoid if:
-you want a super deep tactical core closer to OG XCOM

More detailed thoughts --
A competent tactical turn based game - lighter than XCOM (much less dice rolling for better or worse), as deep or deeper than Gears of War Tactics / 40k Mechanicus. Without getting into spoilers, even reminds me of Pandemic in some ways.

Ragdoll physics are fun - I really like when explosions send people off edges or otherwise knock around body parts from previous enemies. Environmental destruction is satisfying - you can materially change the battlescape.

Missions can be somewhat repetitive but randomly generated levels and at least somewhat varied environments keep it fresh enough. Loot grinding exceeded my initial expectations so far, but still not a very "deep" system.

Story is fine so far, voice acting is sincere if sometimes silly. Visually consistent and well done, though definitely on the cartoony end of grimdark (you'll see lots of brightly colored intestines). Very solid visual customization options from what's typically offered in this style of game.

Pretty solid potential for expansive future updates though not sure what the dev has planned in that regard.

Pretty difficult, and an unfortunate lack of in-game tutorials - you have to watch videos outside the game / read guides - but, once over the initial hump, there's a very deep and fun game behind it. Brutal, but fair.

If you like:
1) WWII ala Red Orchestra (slow, old school, mostly 1-hit kill)
2) Massive battles
3) Pretty interesting command system

You have to deal with:
1) Opaque systems
2) Lack of Polish
3) Nazis

3.5 - 4 / 5
+graphics
+economy mechanics
+humor
-some bad / awkward UI
-inconsistent difficulty
-mediocre tutorial

This game took a little while to hit home for me - in particular I found the tutorials pretty poor at setting up the challenge of this game. They introduce a lot of mechanics pretty quickly, and in a scenario where you have lots of money it's easy to say "ok but why would i ever use this option" and feel like the game is shallow consequently. Playing through the missions has remeied this impression for me, and
