Tried it after years of waiting, first thing i noticed is ...well it looks nicer but once you start fighting, you realize how clunky and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ it is. Its just so unintuitive and bad...

And if you already have an item in your hand good look hitting, cause its not doing anything and getting rid of it requires going to the inventory to drop it. Well done Dayz UX guys... not!

Still feels lengthy at times. But it's kinda relaxing kinda nice to return to every once in a while. Its gotten better but still planets feel still way too empty however nowhere near as bad as it used to be. Since i accumulated 280+ hours its safe to say, that its gotten better and is playable and enjoyable enough to come back to every now and than...so changed to thumbs up

____

No mans sky feels like the longest tutorial to a game that does not exist. After they are done teaching and showing you everything...there is nothing you can do with it. Just fly around do more of the same old same old. There is no depth to the game, no meaning to building or owning anything. Its pointless, utterly pointless.

It's got one thing plenty of though: bugs!

Alpha 12 is a totally new beast

Good job devs for making the utter failure of Alpha 10 a regrettable episode of the past which has been rectified by Alpha 12. Lots of fun. Great new universe to play with, a lot of different things to find and explore, nice new balance to things and a lot of new factions and potential threats. Its fun again... thanks for that.

Alpha 10, just lol!

Base Attacks ruins the Alpha in a game breaking way. Remote base hacks can take a base at unlimited range if the ai cant find another option, which due to stupidity, is always the case. So if you play the game right, and build a well defendable base it will be hacked and you lose EVERYTHING.

The lazy ass response of the developer https://empyriononline.com/threads/alpha-10-new-base-attack-survival.49015/page-2 can be found here. Because it is a "free block building game...blabla hard to do, cant be done..."

A simple mod in minecraft managed to get this done (zombiehordes) by letting the hordes build across obstacles and into the air, by digging away blocks, walls and such...to find a way to YOU. It worked like a charm, was done by one modder and it was lots of fun.

It is just lazy bad ai programming with this feature right now and sometimes results in repeatable crashes of the server if in mp.

Cannot recommend right now.

Stellaris 2.2.1 MegaCorp TLDR: Click click clickediclickclickcliiiiiick....click! click!

Seriously thats about it. It does not matter what you get content wise it is the UI that is so broken and tedious it turns into the enemy of the player. Click after Click after tedious click you micromanage EVERYTHING. Why? Because Sectors are broken again, AI is broken again, jobs need to be managed and if you really are crazy enough to go down to each individual pop to manage their job, you are gonna end up with no life and no game cause you need to pause all the time to get it done.

Or you could play it with lets say 3-5 planets. This is the level that will not drive you comletely mad with micromanaging everything. I have played 2 3000+ pop games with 50-70 planets now. If i had to sum my games up they would only be clickclickclickclickclick....all the time upgrading, new building, upgrading, popup, switch to planet a) do upgrade, popup switch to planet b) fix housing, click build stuff... pop up, planet c,update click...scroll through the sidebar click each of the planets continously to find issues and housing problems and upgrade and clickclickclickclick. After a while you dont want to expand or even build one of your million mines any more.

That is stellaris 2.2.1 right now. AVOID for now unless you have a very stable wrist ;)

In principle a great DLC but the bugs kill it, especially desync that makes the entire game a bland experience as for the clients of a game this is a lesson in pain. Some things works others randomly dont...mostly because of desync.

Early Access Review
TLDR: if you like medieval sieges in RTS style, if you like fighting for a city in the streets and on the walls, this is for you. But you should not mind Early Access it has a way to go still. Devs are active though.

I found this raw gem a few months back and i loved the sieges instantly. I am a medieval fan and i play a lot of games around that era. What kept me playing even though it was rough around the edges were the sieges and battles. Kind of a medieval Age of empires with formations.

So what is it?
It´s like a total war in real time, where battles and tactical map are played in real time. Every siege is like its own entity (at least for now) and you build a siege camp, produce stuff you haven´t brought with you and try to take the city. However the city does the same and they usually prepared and have some nice troops ready, so you better protect your siege camp. After that the fight for strategically important sections of the walls and streets is on. The controls are still a bit clunky so dont expect starcraft 2 here, it will most likely get way better though. Both sides will keep building troops and the sieging army needs to take out all city buildings and core points to stop the defenders from building defense. After that is done, you take the city and back to tactical map it is. However you can always go inside a city and build, collect ressources and prepare for an attack of someone else.

On the tactical map you can move a couple of armies and fight in open field or siege another city. It certainly has way to go here, it still feels a bit flat but the devs are currently reaching out to the community contacting active players directly for feedback and ideas. I suppose a lot of good will come of this.

My opinion right now is:
- you need to be patient, its early access and it shows
- it has however great potential
- if they manage to get tactical map and city map / battles on the same timescale and make it seamless it could be great
- You should not expect AAA graphics, its not a beauty but it has its charming sides, however this might change
- its a ton of fun playing sieges against or with your friends. Really is even though its still clunky
- Dont play it if you want a finished title, just dont, give it time

Clarification because of some comments:
I am not angry about the difficulty, i am angry about the interface, plz keep that in mind.

----------------------------------

Oh boy, what a completely mixed feeling this game creates.

I was rather looking forward to it. But it falls short in many places. Yet it "could" be an amazing game, if they would actually solve their one biggest problem: lack of important meaningfull information in the interface.

Yes its pretty and nice. But its as pretty as its useless.

Here are a few WTF Moments, make of them what you want:

Missleading is a core concept of the gamedesign or well simply NOT telling at all why things happen. In my last round at 535% difficulty (highest) i had 11 earth sick idiots out of 12, my last lazy martian the one dude that was born during this chaotic failure of a playthrough was the last man standing. Trying to do one year crop, one year machine parts and one year of grocery store clerk... he actually could have made it "the marsian" movie style. But the 11 earth sick ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s just ate food. No way of getting them to do anything, no way of throwing them out or making them commit suicide or anything. There is literally no way of controlling directly what those guys are doing. And there is no coming back from earth sick either...why? i dont know! The game does not tell you, nor does it tell you how to solve this or why they are killing themselves by refusing even the absolute minimal work. If 11 of 12 go on strike it kills your colony and the strikers...whats the point? If you want to kill yourself give me a button, ill do it for you...

Another example, Colonist management:
You have to search for the colonists in hidden places and hope to find them...either in their flat or in their workplace. Not a complete list of all colonists is available, where you could manage stuff. Those guys are your bread and butter yet for some foolish reason the gamedesigners did not think it important to give us a list of all colonists + where they work, how happy they are, what worries them etc. Its freaking MARS we are just a few souls, dont you think we would know all of that, i want big brother!

Or mechanics that are not explained at all. Batteries for example have a max output. But...the game does not tell you that you are at your max battery capacity and that is the reason for power outages. It also does not tell you that a short amount of power outage completely ruins your crop...even instantly hitting the damn pause button is too late.

It also does not tell you which mechanic is behind a buildings performance. What does hydropnic farm performance of 29 actually mean? Will the crops always die? Sometimes? Will it be decreased?

In such a game, not telling players what mechanics mean is utterly frustrating. Especially at higher difficulty levels, you are depending on every bit of info you can get. But this game makes it a core concept to always hide these things. And i mean this quite literally. This is a core concept its every where. The tutorial is minimal, the information is pretty but minimal, tools tips are minimal, core mechanics like dome radius? Would you bother to tell game? no? really? Well thanks! WTF!

So essentially its a nice game with TONS of WTF!!! moments.... recommendation is: try in 2 - 3 month...maybe

Also her damit.

Wow, what a colossal waste of a perfectly fine gaming evening. I loved endless legend so much, i found ES1 pretty much ok, but this is not too much enjoyable. I appreciate the level of detail, lore and love they put into game design. But the lack of involvement i feel and the utter piece of garbage this joke of a battlesystem is... ruins it, completely. Seems to also be buggy or badly designed. My system defending fleet on active defense mission ignored incoming pirates which went straight for my ark, destroying the entire system while a mighty (stupid) fleet stood idly by doing....exactly nothing. Not a thing...not 1 shot fired. Did not even try to intercept...i mean why should they...the view of an exploding ark is quite the fireworks to be seen i guess...

And dont get me started on the interface. I loved endless legend for its nice intuitive interface...but ES2 is too much, too clunky and in many ways always that little bit too much that gets on your nerves. Its not really ugly. It tries to be fancy and all...but it fails as its really not that easy and overwhelms with way way too much information. And i already am used to endless games...how do new players feel with that? i dunno... maybe its just not my cup of tea and someone else loves it. I certainly dont. I dont hate it either...its just...meh!
