I had pause when iD/Bethesda wanted to install a ring-0 driver for what was, for me, a single-player experience.

Given that installation, I didn't opt to partake in a review bomb, but withheld giving one at all.

Kudos to the developers for listening to the community in approaching the need for Denuvo and removing it accordingly. I think putting a ring-0 driver in in the first place should be considered something of a ding. I understand the need for anti-cheat, but in a game like this at least give the option of avoiding it altogether by making MP and SP separate executables/experiences. I understand that other games use similar methods, but I don't play those other games, either.

Now that Denuvo has been removed, I can confidently say that Doom Eternal is possibly the best single-player shooter experience I've had in a long, long time. The challenge of ultra nightmare keeps me coming back, and the visuals, controls, and overall feel of the platforming are superb.

If you're looking for hectic action, plenty of demon gore, and enough lore to keep you interested, get into Doom Eternal
