A tragic story that needs two people to be unraveled, all while solving puzzles (sometimes half blind!)
Two boys run away together into the mountain near their hometown to destroy the statue on top. Watch their worlds change before your eyes as they learn how to deal with death and loss.. and see how this experience shapes them as you scale the mountain.

Bokura is only playable if you play with another person. Communicate together as you navigate the everchanging world(s) you’re in. Is it the cute fairy tale world or the dark robotic world? It all depends on which character you choose. Sometimes one of you can’t see exactly what the other one can see, so you have to help each other navigate this glitched out world.

Aside from puzzles with increasing difficulty, there’s also a reality-bending story. It heavily deals with themes like death, loss, and decay. There’s definitely some psychological horror aspects to this game, and some very surreal story parts that leave you wondering what actually happened to these two boys. I don’t want to spoil too much of the story, since it’s definitely best to go in completely blind.

The puzzles are very well made. Together, it doesn’t take too long to figure out the solutions, but sometimes you’re thrown for a loop. I particularly enjoy the later game puzzles with the added complexities. The one downside is that the game sometimes glitches out (I got thrown across the map once due to a physics inconsistency after we respawned for example) and there is slight lag sometimes. The lag was definitely not as big of an issue as many of the other reviews make it out to be, though.

Me and my boyfriend played through the game twice to see the perspective of both boys and to get all of the achievements. One of them was bugged, sadly, but it was still very nice to have played both characters. The music throughout the game is amazing, and combined with the beautiful pixel art Bokura is a treat to play. I would definitely recommend you get the bundle including the soundtrack.

Overall, I think Bokura is a very nice two-person puzzle game with a very peculiar story that you should definitely check out for yourself, as spoiler free as possible ;P
