what if you took ys viii's brisk combat, base building, and resource gathering mechanics and put it in a side scroller? it's a breezy fun time, can't wait for the main game next year.

fun whodunit - pretty easy since messing up just means you can try again (after watching a hilarious scene where everyone tells you how wrong you are) and the worst that happens is you get a low grade, but there are plenty of twists and turns both in narrative and gameplay by the end. if you like phoenix wright you'll have a real good time with this one.

never pay more than 20 bucks for a computer game. luckily this one's only 10.

the numbers go up real good

not as good as arkham asylum - the aesthetic hasn't aged all that well and it kind of falls apart in the last act - but it strikes the right balance between open world freedom and tightly designed scenarios. ending's still great too.

game is finished, stop chasing phantoms

side quests drag things out a bit (especially when hit by some game-breaking bugs) but combat never stops being satisfying

valve's still got it after all these years
