I did not like this as much as I thought I would.
Don't get me wrong the art is stellar, the worldbuilding interesting and the ambiance immersive. There are surprises all along and you never know what is next. The mechanics are unique and the ideas are very well executed.

But the whole thing felt a bit empty and boring to me, and I needed to do it over 3 sessions because I kept losing interest after some time, which for a game you finish in 3 hours is a pity. I did not get intense feelings nor was very moved by the game. And I usually am the public for cryptic, chill, unique indie games that are more art than fun.

The end felt inconclusive, not in the way of a good, thought-provoking open ending but more like "so what was the story anyway?". I do not ask of a wordless game to have detailed and precise story. But there was just too little in my eyes to feel invested at all. The end almost felt just like another of those bumps in the road you encounter all along. It happens suddenly without any kind of buildup really, leaving you thinking "oh, so this is it?".

The puzzles are interesting - but they can be tedious. Not because they are super hard but they may require walking distances just a bit too long, doing actions just a bit too slow... And while they do make you think just enough, they rarely felt satisfying to solve.

So I would say this is a 65% recommendation from me. It's good, and I liked it, but not as much as I'd hoped and it did not have the same effect on me than it did other people.

Never in my life have I seen such a nice and wholesome community in a multiplayer game. Only good times here.

Honestly, I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would.
The writing is very fun and the gameplay is enjoyable, even if you, like me, are not a tactics games fan.
Worth playing.

It's actually a great little gem of a game.
Hella hard that's for sure. Retried a couple of bits dozens of times, but it never felt unfair, or frustrating - and it doesn't take much from a die and retry game to get me frustrated, this genre is usually absolutely not my cup of tea.
The main character feels annoying at first and the fourth wall shattering, self-aware writing style, gimmicky. Then, it grows on you. And when, by the end, it takes an unexpected turn, you realize you actually like it all, and it was more than just a lazy gimmick, there was also an actual backstory and all of it was well executed throughout. The credits sequence got me thinking by adressing topics that are important to me (granted, not to everyone, but to me personnally, also don't expect something extremely deep either - just a nice, short, dialogue), and the ending was a lot more interesting than you would expect when first starting the game.

I highly recommand playing in Easy difficulty if Hard is too hard for you or you get frustrated. I pushed through Hard, but you shouln't let the diffictulty get in the way as this is a really enjoyable game, and it being difficult is not essential to that enjoyment. I actually tried the game four years ago and gave up ater a couple missions because my ego wouldn't let me chose Easy, although Hard was, at the time, too hard for me. Coming back with more video game literacy, Hard was doable while barely ever feeling overwhelming, but again, it's not the fact that it's hard that makes it fun, so enjoy it in the most suitable difficulty for you (yes, there are only two).
