It's not just a regular game with simple art style!

It's about our life... How we start as a child with full of energy, and gather experience and grow both physically and emotionally as we get older. It's how we interact with others and manage things, and handle obstacles. Sometimes, we've someone to stand beside us, and sometimes we've to fight our own battles. But, at the end, we all perish... but what remains constant is our hope, it never dies!

Cute little game that should be appreciated by fans of Limbo and Inside. Has a slight touch of Barotrauma. I wish for future Okomotive games to have a coop mode though.

FAR: Lone Sails is not for me.

Clearly it is 'for' rather a lot of people, but the loop of 'atmospheric' passage -> basic puzzle -> 'atmospheric' passage -> basic puzzle really isn't enough to keep me engaged; at least in terms of the atmosphere I've discovered in the video game format to-date. I tried two separate short sessions to check it wasn't a mood thing, but I'm afraid that I don't find the puzzles particularly engaging, and the rest of the time I was just pretty bored and waiting for something to happen.

I'm sure those who particularly enjoy the game will point to the weather effects (pulling my Okomotive in the pissing rain did evoke feelings of trudging home in the rain after missing the last bus), the occasional visual curios in the foreground/background, and the (excellent) soundtrack. Unfortunately, there isn't quite enough going on with those aspects to hold my interest: the soundtrack is ambient-driven (and thus not exactly foreground music), the visual curios do nothing for me, and 'oooo being rained on sucks, doesn't it' is a literal interpretation of a Travis song moreso than a game.

One design decision in particular stands out to me. Repairing anything takes ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ages. This isn't because of the player needing to complete a series of mechanical steps, or even traverse the world; it's because we've decided that your super-duper-magic repair tool takes about six seconds of standing next to the object being repaired to do its job.

I'm sure I'm opening myself up to 'Gen Z subway surfer tik tok on seven screens ADHD'-style responses. So be it. I'm sure it's very clever and emotional in its own way, but I just don't get it.
