The Steam Controller is undeniably a fantastic controller, though its learning curve might deter some from fully enjoying it at first. If you're accustomed to smaller controllers, the Steam Controller's unique design might feel strange initially. As a PC gamer who exclusively used KB+M before getting the SC, I found it to be a game-changer and grew to love it over the years. Even when I tried the Xbox One Controller, which undoubtedly feels more expensive and well-built, I still didn't feel as comfortable as I did with the Steam Controller.

It's essential to clarify that despite being marketed as "the one" controller to mimic the KB+M experience, this claim isn't entirely accurate. While the Steam Controller excels in many games, it still falls short in FPS, MOBA, and RTS games compared to the precision of KB+M. I highly advise against using it for competitive shooters, as it won't match the accuracy you'd achieve with a keyboard and mouse. However, if you enjoy the Steam Controller and can get used to it, it's best reserved for games that are ideally played with a controller. Don't buy it expecting it to replace KB+M in every scenario, as it won't be worth it.

For me, the standout features of the Steam Controller are its haptic feedback and touchpad. Additionally, I appreciate the button placement, the controller's substantial size, and the comfort it offers even during long gaming sessions. These elements are major advantages of the Steam Controller in my opinion.

However, I must emphasize again that the controller's learning curve is significant and something you'll need to overcome. Transitioning from another controller can be tough, but coming from KB+M might make the adjustment slightly easier. The learning experience varies depending on multiple factors, but I can confidently say that I've never regretted purchasing the Steam Controller. It has been worth every penny, and even to this day (31.07.2023), it remains my primary controller for PC gaming.

A crucial point to note is that the Steam Controller is reliant on Steam, and it won't function without it. Although there are workarounds available, they usually involve either opening Steam or using third-party software. The controller works flawlessly with most non-Steam games added to the library, but if you don't primarily use Steam for your gaming needs, this is something to keep in mind before making the purchase.

Alan Wake is an amazing experience, and there's even a remastered version available now, Alan Wake Remastered[store.epicgames.com], which is superior to the original game in terms of visuals and overall presentation. The remaster does a great job of bringing the game up to today's standards, although the original game still holds up well in terms of graphics. However, there is a catch – the remaster is currently only available on the Epic Games Store, and it seems to be plagued with bugs for AMD users like myself. So, if you're an AMD user or unsure about potential issues, it might be better to stick with the original version for a smoother experience, or you can try the remaster, and if you do notice visual glitches you should ask for a refund and buy the original instead. I've shared my detailed review of the remaster and its bugs on Metacritic, which you can check out on my profile[www.metacritic.com] there if you're interested.

As for the game itself, Alan Wake offers an exquisitely crafted story that clearly showcases the developers' dedication. Everything about it, from the visuals to the storytelling, feels of high quality. The narrative keeps you engaged and emotionally invested throughout, making you eagerly anticipate what unfolds next. The constant looming darkness in the game creates a sense of urgency, urging you to seek refuge in "safe havens" to momentarily escape the terror. The eerie ambiance, fog, and the setting of Bright Falls make me draw comparisons to the atmosphere of the iconic Silent Hill series, despite being completely different games.

The gameplay is immensely enjoyable, with well-implemented shooting mechanics, the clever use of light in combat against enemies, and excellent enemy designs. The enemies themselves possess dark personalities, adding to the overall creepiness and immersion. However, one aspect that warrants criticism is the game's tendency to abruptly strip you of all your gear without a compelling explanation. Though it makes sense from a gameplay perspective, it can feel jarring and immersion-breaking at times. Alan Wake's gameplay falls somewhere between adventure and survival horror, blurring the lines between the two genres.

One thing that slightly dampens the experience is Alan Wake's somewhat slippery movement. He tends to keep moving a little even after you stop, and the jump mechanic is unresponsive, which can be frustrating, especially in Special 2 where platforming elements play a significant role. Additionally, Alan's sprint is disappointingly short-lived, leading to exhaustion too quickly, making it less enjoyable. The car controls and movement also leave something to be desired.

For achievement hunters: Alan Wake features 67 achievements, and they're not the easiest to obtain, especially the ones related to the two special episodes, 'Run-On Sentence' and 'No Punctuation.' These achievements require you to beat the two episodes without dying or reloading the game once. However, if you enjoy the gameplay, they are doable for anyone.

Nevertheless, despite these minor drawbacks, Alan Wake remains a unique and captivating experience. I highly recommend it to fans of survival horror and thrilling stories. The game has earned a special place in my heart, becoming one of my favorite games and franchises.

Alan Wake's American Nightmare falls somewhere between a spin-off and a sequel. While it continues the story directly, it feels more like a spin-off in its overall tone and presentation.

Let's start with the story. It is decent, but when compared to the brilliance of the original Alan Wake, it falls short. The introduction of Mr. Scratch as an intriguing character adds some interest, but the overall concept lacks the depth and impact of the original game. Given the difference in scale between the two games, this discrepancy was somewhat expected. Nonetheless, considering its shorter length, the story is passable. However, my main disappointment lies in the change of the narrator. Alan Wake's narration, where we saw events from his perspective as he read and told the story, was a key factor in making the original game's storytelling so captivating. In American Nightmare, the narration is provided by a character from Night Springs, and while it's not necessarily bad, it lacks the emotional connection and immersion that Alan's voice lent to the experience. Nevertheless, the use of real actors in the cinematics is a commendable choice, with Alan Wake's actor delivering a solid performance. On the downside, the in-game supporting characters' dialogue with Alan feels unrealistic and somewhat disappointing.

On the gameplay front, there are definite improvements. Combat and movement have received substantial upgrades, making Alan more responsive and agile. The camera is better, and Alan no longer feels exhausted after running short distances, resulting in a smoother and more enjoyable experience. Additionally, the game offers a wider array of weapons and enemies, addressing a potential issue of lack of variety from the first game. However, while the enemy variations are appreciated, the overall combat feels lighter and less intense than the first game, primarily due to the lack of the original's dark and eerie atmosphere. American Nightmare has shifted its focus from survival horror to action-adventure, presenting a lighter thriller story. The element of surprise is diminished as enemies spawn in waves, and the tension from being stalked by the Taken is less present. Consequently, the game feels less chilling and more lighthearted, though still entertaining. Thanks to the improved combat and movement mechanics, taking on the Taken can be a fun experience. The addition of the Arcade mode is a welcome inclusion, enhancing the game's action-packed nature.

Regarding bugs, I encountered only one significant issue. The game occasionally fails to close properly, leaving a black screen after quitting. Without a second monitor and the task manager open, it becomes impossible to close the game. This can be frustrating for players without the necessary setup, leading them to restart or log out of their Windows account every time they want to exit the game.

For achievement hunters: the game includes 12 achievements, with several of them being missable and not the easiest to obtain. However, if you enjoy the gameplay, unlocking them can be quite fun. It certainly was an enjoyable experience for me.

It's evident that Alan Wake's American Nightmare was never intended to be a true sequel but rather a light, side-story spin-off that explores the character of Mr. Scratch while providing a bit of additional story. Despite this, there is room for improvement. While maintaining its short duration, the game could have retained more of the original atmosphere, genre, and darkness that made Alan Wake memorable. However, as a separate experience, it is genuinely enjoyable and highly recommended for any Alan Wake fan.

"Episode 4: Double Visions" of Back to the Future: The Game, while not the strongest in the series, still holds its own and delivers an enjoyable experience. When comparing it to the other three episodes, it might not stand out as much, but that doesn't mean it's a weak episode in its own right.

What sets "Double Visions" apart is its slightly slower pace in terms of story development. While the previous episodes were filled with thrilling twists and turns, this one takes a more contemplative approach, allowing the players to delve deeper into the characters and their emotions. While this change of pace may not be everyone's cup of tea, I found it to be a refreshing change of tone that added depth to the overall narrative.

The gameplay in this episode remains consistent with the series, providing fun and challenging puzzles that keep you engaged throughout. Though it may not introduce any groundbreaking mechanics or mind-bending riddles, it still manages to keep the adventure engaging and entertaining.

One aspect that remains consistently praiseworthy throughout the entire series is the attention to detail in the writing and the excellent voice acting. "Double Visions" continues to deliver authentic dialogue and witty exchanges between characters, making you feel like you're part of the Back to the Future universe.

Additionally, the developers continue to impress with their commitment to staying true to the source material. The attention to recreating the iconic settings of the movie trilogy is commendable and adds to the overall nostalgic experience.

While "Episode 4: Double Visions" might not have the same jaw-dropping moments as its predecessors, it still contributes significantly to the overarching story. It's a necessary stepping stone in the grand adventure that ties up loose ends and sets the stage for the grand finale.

In conclusion, "Episode 4: Double Visions" may not shine as brightly as the other episodes when compared directly, but it is by no means a weak installment. It maintains the charm, fun, and nostalgia of the series, providing an enjoyable and satisfying experience for fans of Back to the Future. As the journey unfolds, it becomes evident that each episode serves its purpose in building a cohesive and memorable story, making "Double Visions" an essential part of the overall adventure.
