Closest thing we've had to a Metroid game since MP3. Memes aside, the execution of the Metroidvania style of exploration and gameplay is on point, which makes this game easily worth the $20 price tag I picked it up for. The combat and movement feels great once your abilities are set up, and the physics puzzles truly had me stuck in some places. My biggest gripe would be the amount of enemy/boss variation, with the final story "boss" being especially anticlimactic (in difficulty. not tone at least). However the unique hidden bosses and encounters that are in the game are all very well done, with a specific one in the Foundation DLC being one of the best. I just wish there could have been more than that.

The story and world building are right up my alley, though you'll have to scrounge for collectibles to get the full picture. This might put off people who don't want to be reading in their video games, but it's also not totally necessary to do so anyway. It's worth noting that the facial animations while characters were talking in game are pretty bad. It personally doesn't bother me too much, but does lead to some cringe worthy scenes. Mass Effect Andromeda got shunned by the community largely because of their famously bad facial animations and those found here aren't much better. At least this game's not conversation focused, so the time spent looking at awkward lip syncing is minimal.

Early Access Review
Best 2D Dark Souls clone to date. Incredibly hard, super fun, all good.
Hopefully this game only grows up until and after release, 'cause I'll be sticking around for sure.

Very unique and addictive fall-scroller that jumbles together aspects of sidescrollers and Rogue-like games. Worth every dollar spent on it (I think I bought it for $2.50, and it gave me 8 or so hours of gameplay until I had completed it all. The ending even gave me a twinge of an emotional response

I bought this game for a dollar and it proceeded to drive me insane. Though you only need to survive for 60 seconds per level, it becomes a lot more difficult as the background and foreground start to rotate faster, almost causing a nauseating effect. However if you can pull it together and find your own rhythm, you might just make it through the game.

The game that brought Source and Steam into the spotlight. Expanding on the silent protagonist, Gordon Freeman's revolutionary actions across a generation wrought with interdimensional alien invasions. The game is relatively short, I've played through the campaign maybe 4-5 times, some achievement hunting and I only have 22 hours in the game. That being said, the story itself fits the time it takes to play the game while still providing lore and unanswered questions that have been fueling fans' crave for HL3.

Borderlands 2 makes you wonder if being a psycho would really be such a bad thing. Nipple salad certainly doesn't sound too terrible.
