At first, I genuinely disliked this game. I found it janky, unoptimized, and mentally painful to play. But after spending some time with it, RRO grew on me. In its current state, it still is a janky and unoptimized mess, but it's genuinely tons of fun. No other game gives you the ability to create your own railroads that actually have a purpose and aren't just a layout to run your trains on to look pretty. No other game sticks to the realism of early 1800s operations (including the painful part of tending to every car, checking the handbrakes, and the lack of automatic coupling or even remote switches) as much as this game.

The majority of the time you spend in this game you will be forced to interact and learn the awful and janky (in its current state) building mechanics. In the end, they get the job done, even if it's frustrating. The best part of this game is figuring out all the logistics of your railroad, building the mainline, all the yards, and stations which are actually meant to work in your railroad, whether you are playing solo or with friends.

At the current state, I wouldn't recommend this game to an average player or even a rail fan. Who i would recommend it to is someone who's into building model railroads, someone who wants something more than just the satisfaction of having built something that looks pretty. This game gives you a reason to build all those layouts and actually gives you a reason to run your trains, or to manage your cars and cargo. If you're planning on getting it I would recommend getting it for one of your friends as well, The game gets at least 10 times more fun with each friend you employ at your railroad.

Best way I can describe Railroader is "one of a kind". Imagine Derail Valley, but with less focus on the simulation of the locomotives and more focus on the management of your own railroad: buying locomotives and rolling stock, managing your contracts, deliveries, and reputation. Also, it's multiplayer, but you can play this game just fine all by yourself; there is no rush, and the AI is there to help you with the tedious tasks. What's there not to like? Probably the AI Engineers, which are kinda hard to manage, but they are working on making them even smarter.

Second best after factorio. This is what Satisfactory should have been instead.
