I dislike this game

Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R is one of the most kickass games released this century. Not even three hours in, and it's proven to be one of the most fun, unique, colourful and engaging fighting-game experiences to date; Everything from the music and musical references to the characters and move-sets themselves is incredible.

The cast consists of a creative array of heavy metal references and awesome character ideas, each with a unique move-set and playstyle corresponding with their design and personalities. It's unlike any other fighting game of its time and a real treat for people who love music, character-art and kicking their friends asses while listening to the former and looking at the latter. There's plenty of content, from story mode to online play, uncompetitive and competitive players alike can enjoy themselves.

If you couldn't tell already, I am especially a fan of the scenery and character design. There was something lost in the transition to a 3D environment for the Guilty Gear series, the dark-metal graphics, unique character designs and personalities were rather watered down, at least in my opinion, in favour for the modern, anime-like designs and character archetypes present in Xrd and Strive - the music has always been on-point, however. It's not to say that Guilty Gear was never inspired by anime, that'd be absurd, but the desire (and potentially the need) to appeal more to 'Western' audiences has left a lot to be desired when in comparison to what was...considering how Faust was drastically changed in the newest instalment, I'd hate to see what would happen to Robo-Ky. Even then, Guilty Gear will always be Guilty Gear.

Negativity aside, Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R is an absolutely iconic piece of artistry from the genius of Daisuke Ishiwatari, who provided us with the characters, music and games myself and others cherish and, despite not having accumulated a massive playtime as of yet, is already one of my favourite games of all time.
