Thankfully, Valve has changed their stance on the monetization of the game and things seem to be looking up for the game. The game has had some trouble keeping a steady player count but personally I've never had issues finding a game in less than 30 seconds or so.

The game is heavily RNG based which can be very frustrating at times but overall I've enjoyed my time with the game and I continue to play a game or two every once in a while when I'm not busy playing Dota.

OLD REVIEW:
A great game which is unfortunately plagued by a terrible monetisation scheme. Likely going to steer away from any future Valve products if this is the example that they've set for their new standard of games.

Early Access Review
new: i have since played 1,300 hours to prove that i am a true rimmer. if you are unconvinced by the multitude of other positive reviews, then consider the fact that i (among many others) have had thousands of hours of enjoyment from a $40 game. i can't reccomend it enough

old: I've played this game for hundreds of hours. Before it was on Steam, I played this game almost daily, I was very into the modding community, I (jokingly) credit myself for having Tynan put melee weapons into the game. I've literally watched this game grow up for the last 5 years, from Alpha 1.

Rimworld, despite the fact that my steam playtime might not show it, is one of my favourite games. There's an endless amount of replayability, storytelling and roleplaying potential. The game itself is amazing; the graphics, sound, and everything just comes together perfectly for an amazing storytelling process.

Tynan has done a great job on the game; you might not agree with the $33.99 price tag, because it's "early access," and "the graphics look like Prison Architect!" but believe me when I tell you - you will get all of your money's worth with this game.

Fantastic game, gets a little repetitive at times but overall I had a great time playing it and everything was incredibly well put together.

Starbound is perhaps one of my favourite sandbox games. Everything is so smooth, there's so much to do. The modding community has some fantastic mods aswell (such as Frackin' Universe) which can change the game entirely. I would reccomend this game to anyone with an interest in Terraria-like sandbox games.

Did I like it? Not really. Would I reccomend it? Sure. Order of Battle: World War II is a fantastic game, and you should keep in mind that this is more of a demo -- not a f2p game. As the developers have stated, they need a source of income and we should actually be glad that they didn't make the choice to implement microtransactions or some blatant moneygrab just so that you could play some other levels.

Personally, I was expecting something more of a mash-up between Hearts of Iron and Civilization V. I liked the looks of it, and I thought it was an interesting concept and since it was free I gave it a shot. After doing the first level I think that I was expecting something different than the game turned out to be. However, if you are looking for a turn-based strategy game set in World-War II, this might be your cup of tea. I thought this would include things such as research, real production (not to scratch on that but it was pretty much just a buy this troop and place him somewhere system, no real production going on (like in Hearts of Iron, for example.) I also would have reduced unit scaling and made there be some more units but that last bit is much more miniscule.

I look forward to seeing where this game goes and maybe one day I'll give it another shot. Currently, my stance is that I don't like it, but I would reccomend it because some people might enjoy it. It just wasn't for me but it *is* a good game.
