Game-play: 4/10 | Story: 5/10 | Music: 100/10 | Replay-ability: 3/10

Overall Score: 5/10

I recommend this game to people who loved Persona 5 and want to see continuous interactions between the characters you already know and love. Additionally, you must be already a fan of tactics games, as this is a simplified version of those.

Game-play
This is a spin-off to Persona 5 but with a tactical twist. If you ever played Mario and Rabbids or Fire Emblem on the Switch, this is similar in game-play. However, I would say it is a more watered down version and relies heavily on the characters and franchise to drive sales. The main story is easy to get through, however, the quests seem obnoxiously difficult, to the point of using guides to get me through them. The baton pass was quite useless in this spin-off, and the bosses were copy-paste boring after the first two kingdoms. The DLC portion with Kasumi and Akechi were the highlight of the game. I wish the entire game was like the DLC as I loved the paint and Splatoon-like creativity.

Story and Characters
If you like Persona 5, then of course, you’re going to love the characters. There isn’t a lot of flexibility in choice and no romance options that I could find as I played the game (though it was refreshingly inclusive). It was a straightforward story with limited interactions with your friends. The story has a difficult time understanding its audience. The game-play and story feel “safe” and don't take a lot of risks, other than some bad language here and there, it feels childish and simple (other than the reveal with Erika). The two new characters introduced did not stick with me and I found myself caring less and less as the game continued forward. However, I did love some of the interactions between the known characters, especially the DLC with Akechi and Kasumi. I laughed quite a bit with some of the dialogue choices.

Graphics and Art Style
For a tactics game, I thought the art and style were cute. I especially loved the little cutscenes and the rest areas where the characters were relaxing with one another.

Sound and Music
If the spin-off followed anything in the direct footsteps of its parent game, it was the music. Honestly, I found myself enjoying Tactica’s music almost MORE than Persona 5. It has a lot of variety and keeps you wanting to play (even when the boss was boring the hell outta me). It goes to show the power of music that can keep you entertained. Additionally, the DLC portion had the BEST music, and I recommend everyone give it a chance if you’re going to play this game.

Replayability and Content
I’m certain you can replay this game, but why would you? Once you finish it, that’s it. You won’t get anything new on a second replay and I wouldn’t put myself through another round even if someone asked. It was fun to play the first time (50/50) but I am not going through it again.

Technical Aspects
As far as technical aspects go, I did not encounter any bugs or glitches. It played smoothly, and I had no issues.

PROS and CONS

Pros:
It’s a Persona Game, so the same loving characters are back!
The voice acting is spot on
The music is fire, some of the best in the series
I liked the integration with Personas and weapons
Gameplay is smooth and simple, easy to pick up

Cons:
There’s no complexity, and no choices
Story isn’t very engaging after the first two kingdoms
The bosses are lazy and boring (again after the first two kingdoms)
