a pretty tight little gem of a game. great art direction complimented by a tale about the current pollution of the oceans, backed up by some solid gameplay. it's inspired by 3d action games of recent years (obviously dark souls) with the usual parry-dodge-block-attack combo. however, within that frame, it still does things its own way : what you do is rather committal, so no mashing attack brainlessly or dodging without learning what you're dodging.

the star of the show is the shell system, which serves as your magic system and your defenses. you get a decent amount of choice to customize those options and whether you want to focus more on magic, defenses or offense (sometimes with tradeoff) but every option you have at least feels usable.

the only part where the game falls a bit apart is the platforming - some segments are a tad wonky to execute. nothing particularly egregious, but whatever issues i ran into at least felt made up by the fact that thought went into how they created the world, and that helps me forgive those shortcomings.

it's not hard to see why the game had a bit of a viral moment and i think it's very much worth your time if 3d action games are up your alley in general.
