Early Access Review
honestly, even despite the whole EAC thing, It's still not too bad, still am able to have a good time with my friends, albeit, little rich on power when things start getting crowded, but of course, it's something that you could bail out on if you're aware of everything. and heck, i even saw that they changed their entire plan just to work on giving people the benefits they lost because of it! sure when it comes to public worlds and whatnot, you can't go all willy-nilly and use whatever avatar you want and not get in trouble, but who says you can't do that in more private instances? it's just down to the core, I fail to see the point that people try to bring out over long term, yes, you may have lost some benefits that came from what you had before, but yet again, as i've said, they've gone out of their way and changed their plans just to give some of the things they took away.

but besides that insanity, in terms of the actual game? it's not really a fixed amount of power usage, you could probably run a simple world with at most a couple of simple avatars on a 3DS and maybe get away with it, but on worlds or avatars that are of higher complexity? you might need at least a basic to decent grade of a gaming PC or laptop if you can get it right

You also don't need VR to play this, although it is recommended to. if you do plan on going with standalone quest tho, you will be heavily limited and won't be able to see a good amount of avatars or worlds. use it through a pc though should offer... acceptable performance, but there's better options if you're able to look into them

The sound quality? In terms of voice chat, it might be a little awkward at first, since stereo is used a bit more aggressively than most other titles, but you're able to get used it. sometimes you'll even be able to tell exactly where they are if you tried hard enough. beyond voice chat? i wouldn't say it's top-of-the-line good, but c'mon, it's a social platform, the games in it are just an added bonus

VR mode? it gets the job done in the end, but you will have to use probably a good majority of the comfort features offered for a few weeks if you're a first time VR user. for performance, it's definitely not the cleanest cut when things start getting hectic, but assuming you can keep the safety setting where required, it can become acceptable

Special misc features? We got a few in the back, There's Full body tracking available that adapts to almost any reasonable setup, even uneven ones, wanna run with 2 arms + hip? Sure thing! how about one arm, one hip, and one leg? That works too! Or a fully decked out setup with arms, knees, hips, feet, pretty much any bendable that's part of your skeleton, besides very specific parts like every specific spine bone or neck bone? uhh... sure, just don't go overboard!

RGB control? nope, not here, unfortunately when this was written.

Controllers? things like DualShock 4 works, Xbox, Steam controller (maybe, unsure), pretty much it'll try anything you give it, just some controllers like joysticks or wheels make you move or spin uncontrollably.

Text chat? eh... kinda? it's not natively in there, at most you get emojis and maybe animations. Though it can be added via world creators or perhaps even avatars themselves, though that last one might have some issues with the earlier trust ranks

external control, like heartbeat sensors or facial tracking? Yea, just might be a bit of a pain to set up, since i never tried to set up an avatar yet and i feel like things are made set-up specific, im not sure though.

Avatar to avatar interactions or other kinds of interactions? Avatar to avatar is definitely here, big time, world related things though? that's a... hot topic. kinda here, since some things you can just poke and it'll do something, but im not sure if that counts.

Alright, all that's probably cool and all, but what about the things you can do in there besides talk? well, there's numerous things you can do, you can chill out at a mirror and stare at yourself for hours on end! ...yes, i know, your hair looks magnificent. or maybe play some tag, or murder, which like a big version of clue from what i hear. though i'm... not exactly sure what clue is. or a stepped up version of Frisbee, may be with some powers as well! or fly a little built-in-the-garage spaceship in search of some special treasure? or just be more casual and do that as some good 'ol pirate? or maybe do you want to scare yourself in some horror maps of various things? there's all sorts of games out here in VRchat, but when it comes to chilling out with some bacon and fries? you could sit with your friends and a bed, maybe watch some youtube, shows, or cartoons, whichever you feel like. though your quest friends may have trouble seeing them, so you may wanna watch out for those issues

so now i've hit all the things i could think of i could pick on, so what's my final summary of it all?

Besides all the chaos that's been thundering around as of lately regarding EAC, It's still not that bad of a game, sure you may have to deal with probably only one limit, which is only having 25 saved avatars without using a subscription, but that's so far been my only hassle caused by the platform itself. every other issue i've had was mostly caused by only players or things being too complex for my machine to compute effectively, but overall, it's still a pretty good platform to lay back and relax on or play some games with friends, and a strong PC isn't always required, just might need it if you're going to a complex world or plan on using VR

My rating out of 10?

I'd probably give it a 7.5/10
