VRChat is a social game of showing off your VR headset with your favorite avatars, if you have it. You're totally fine without VR too. However, this is THE prime example of "Your experience may vary" because it all depends on what your outlook is, your mental state, and where to look. Finding one good friend to hang out with is a completely different experience to hanging out with complete strangers in the Black Cat.

What I can assure you though, is that there are indeed really good people that will give you memorable friendships and more. Just take it slow. :)
