After the disastrous launch of the game, filled with some of the most unethical and exploitative microtransactions of the time, i steered clear of this game for almost a decade. But now for 4€ on a sale, i bought it and decided to give it a shot.

THERE ARE ZERO MICROTRANSACTIONS NOW, NONE.

The devs were able to remove all the modern gaming filth and only keep the gold. Everything is unlocked from the start, just jump into a game and start blasting and call droids "Clankers". Its some of the most fun ive had in a while, played it for 9 hours and only went to bed at 3am. Its really damn good and ignited that star wars spark and joy for me.

This game honestly reminds me of that precious late 2000s multiplayer phase where multiplayer games werent reduced to microtransaction hells, filled with casinos, you just buy the game, get the whole game and play it. Glorious.

Pirate this, its a better experience than agreeing to 2K's and Take-Two's horrid Terms of Service.

Yeah sure lets just ban people for modding their singleplayer game

Early Access Review
If you liked Hades 1 for the story, the voice acting, the characters, the music and the overall vibe, this game is exactly that but again, better and more of. The gameplay on the otherhand is quite different, i wouldnt say worse just different. While Zagreus is a bombastic and more easygoing god, his sister, Melinoë is a bit more focused and calculated. Thusly their personalities reflect the changes in the playstyle. It does take a while to get used to Melinoë's playstyle but once it clicks its just as fun if not more fun than her brother.

High recommendation

This is what gaming used to be.

You get the full game, with unlockable extras and goodies by doing challenges. Not once does the game ask you for more money. Its a complete product, made with lots of heart and passion. It plays wonderfully, a spectacle fighter + rhythm game is a brilliant combo, excellent soundtrack, loved the characters and the writing is the type of cheesy and goofy stuff that just makes you feel good inside.

This game is worth every single cent.

A niche game perfect for its niche audience

I absolutely adore this game, the entire first hour i had the biggest fattest smile on my face. I felt so seen while playing this, it was the exact niche as hell game ive been wanting. And it feels so nice, also my hands are in pain :D

This game is targeted at smash players (mostly melee) who like the 'break the targets' mode + are fans of celeste and/or dustforce ... and nobody else. The audience is a very small niche, but by god am i in that niche and i adore this game.

The controls felt perfect, very responsive and tight, better than Nick All-Star Brawl 1&2, Multiversus, Slap City and on par with Rivals of Aether and Melee

For me, because of my history with melee, each new gimmick and mechanic was very intuitive without any tutorial necessary. But if youre not somebody deep into the melee pipeline, you will be very confused, especially by the seemingly random control scheme. Or by how it doesnt tell you anything about how to play it, you have to figure it out yourself, the stage gimmicks might not be obvious to you because you arent used to the physics and feel of melee.

The music is nice, but a bit too short, not varied enough and looped often enough where i eneded up turning it off.

I enjoy the visuals but it did get tiring after a while and i would have rather had a style similar to dustforce or celeste, but i understand this is a one man project and scope was being kept at bay.

If you are in the niche, buy it. If you arent, skip it

YUCK

Very disappointed with the game, especially with the gross microtransactions.

The physics of the game feels floaty, slow and sluggish, which is funny because it input delay is actually ~30ms which is quite impressive, but despite that it still feels sluggish. The characters have no momentum whatsoever and just float in the air, which just feels just plain bad to control and makes them feel weightless so its not even satisfying to hit attacks.

ITS SO SLOW

90% of the time the characters dont pop on your screen so they can get lost unless you slap a bright outline on them, for the love of god add some rimlighting on the characters and lower the saturation of the stages

you cant change the game settings in the training mode, such as controls, audio volume or graphical settings, in fact there is on settings option there at all!

Microtransactions are just brutal and unapologetic with a battlepass that isnt welcomed.
YOU HAVE IT ALL;
- skins that cost 20, 30 or even bloody 40€
- premium currency that is short of what most things are priced at so you need to pay more :DDDDDD
- fomo missions, items and skins urging to you to BUY IT NOW.
(also emote voices on the store play only on the right side of your headphones, its very distracting)
- The UI is way too big for most displays other than mobile or tablets to be pleasant to use

also the game crashed while i was going through the menus as of writing this review, outstanding move.

Gameplay is 10/10, super fun and the rollback netcode is fantastic

BUT the monetization for this game is so scummy, all the microtransaction stuff for cool costumes are like 6€ but you cant buy 6€ worth of premium currency, its just slightly under that amount so you have to pay 12€. Also WHY ARE COSTUMES 6 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ BUCKS?!

THIS IS A FULL PRICED GAME.

I played the original 2013 risk of rain when it came out and absolutely loved it, this is the best remake of the game i could have imagined. It runs amazing, you have to try to break the game for it to start lagging. The soundtrack goes so hard i often find myself listening to it long after closing the game. Visually its how my nostalgia eyes saw the first game but even smoother and more detailed.

If you liked RoR2 or rougelikes in general, please do give it a shot

I think the game is great but the performance issues make it so i cant recommend it. This might be the first rally game to make me move on from Dirt Rally 2.0, it controls so well.

Wait for performance fixing patches or a sale and buy this game for like maybe half price
