Easy win!
A legitimate racist holds those views and wishes to inflict pain on others by expressing them (generally). Whereas someone trolling is often not really thinking about the consequences and simply looking for a bit of fun, even, to some extent, at the expense of others.
Both may have similar effects on those who experience them however and given that I can see why trolling can also cause issues. This considered, my viewpoint does not change, other means to troll racially motivated or not will be found without the mask and its removal will likely do nothing except for upsetting players wishing to using it legitimately.
BHVR is an overly sensitive company with overly sensitive employees, this was not the correct response. I consider this decision to be utterly moronic.
I imagine this happened at best a handful of times, the number of racist players acting in this or similar ways (even including those obviously trolling) will be minuscule. Those getting genuinely upset over such behaviour need to thicken their skin, they are only feeding the trolls.
