This game has some charm, but rather than good game design along with it, its tedious game design. not a fan.

Thís game! Oh boy, this game.
In this review, I will summarize pro's and cons, then rant a little, then reflect. I hope it will be insightful:P

Pro's:
-Loads of things to do
-Lots of freedom in where to go and what to partake in
-Various ways to make your fortunes
-Multiplayer (sort of)
-It's pretty

Con's:
-Só many bugs. SO many. Its incredible how many.
-Game crashes over its most basic functions, like teleporting, respawning, entering a ship and more.
-Grinding is core to this game, but the aforementioned con's mean you sometimes lose hours worth of grinding for no good reason.

The rant:
I love this game, because its goofy at times, cool at others. Because i can play with friends, and i can build a base. Because i can explore any direction i want to, and i can craft and kill and discover loads of things. But i also hate this game, because it sómehow doesn't auto-save unless you do very specific actions and can waste hours of work. Not just by dying, but by bugging out at every twist and turn, often following its buggy game-play by hard-crashing the game over its most basic functions. You cant die without crashing the game. Ladders? Let's go up one and somehow get stuck in a climbing animation till you nearly reach outer space. Found a load of cool things like legendary bones, tons of data and tech cards and more? Let's just suddenly spawn a ton of sentinels on your location, which yéét you off of the cliffside, only for you to both die ánd crash because your corpse is flying past ground-levels and the game can't cope with its own laggy "features".

Reflection:
I dó like this game. Finding a paradise planet with loads of fossils is fun, including a temple in my outpost makes for some cool aesthetics, and there's plenty to do in this game. i just wish that there weren't so incrédibly many bugs, even if some of them are both hilarious and lucrative, because they often break the mechanics of the game:
-Ships don't need repairing to sell, just build a portal and warp to a station and presto, its there and you can trade the broken piece of junk for a very nice ship right at the start, or even just break it down for materials you can sell directly.
-You can make things in a refiner, then put those made components in the refiner again, pick it up, and suddenly, you gained a surplus of its basic material? You can basically dupe raw resources.
Terrible bugs include:
-Getting cheated out of your flagship because it explodes when the game decided to drag your ship into the dockingbay the wrong way, scraping you through itself causing it to bug out entirely. Also, sometimes when its hit by a random shot, you instantly lose the chance to claim it.
-When you get your first settlement, game doesn't have anything in place to ensure practical settlement placement. My first settlement was glitched halfway into an active volcano. I kid you not. Landing pulled me underground, which then led to me falling out of the world, until it then teleported me onto the surface a good 30 seconds later, which was lava. Also, i saved the place anyways just to make sure i did not lose the chance for a settlement, and as soon as its saved, the entire population was just the rudest and most trash-talkative i've ever seen. To be fair, i would also trash-talk a town if it was half-skewered into an active volcano, but damn, way to demotivate me before even trying to fix this mess:P

It gets worse when you realize that not only do sóme bugs skip half of the grind that is intended for this game, its also the better way to play this game if you don't want to lose your progress unwarranted. Because you will. Hours and hours of game-play will be wasted because the game just crashes at any time over any dumb reason. Its 2022 and this game still has só many bugs and lacks só many features. Try using a portal, or entering your ship. Bam! Crash. You die after being yeeted off the mountain? game cant calculate your grave, crash. Try just talking to a merchant! Crash.

The game has a saving feature, but it happens only if A: you use a save beacon, or B: you exit a spaceship. That means that if you have been out and about with your exocraft, or on foot, you will probably not have saved for a while, and when the game crashes over its many issues, you lose everything you did since exiting your spacecraft. It should not be so damn hard to add an auto-save feature. At least a setting to auto-save at an x-minute interval. It would make me want to play this the legitimate way a lot more than it does now.

Another thing: Multiplayer feels a little lackluster, same with combat in general, but i haven't seen the end of the game yet because... well, its the sort of game that gets you sidetracked:P Currently, the most my multiplayer experience has been is seeing each other's bases, checking out planets and hunting drop-pods. But even that is kind of dull, because the interaction with drop-pods is always the same, and the planets, whilst different from each other, barely ever offer actual exploration value.

So why do i still play this? Well.... its simple. When game works, game is gud.
I like how weird the animals are, how nice the building is, even if its not the spiciest system, its good (give me holes for ceilings tho, f**k ladders>.<'). I enjoy checking out npc's for wares and looking for that top-of-the-line s-class ship to round out my collection, and crossing the landscape in my bulky bike stunting about looking for bones. Being able to buy loads of resources also suits my play-style, because i hate grinding for basic resources. I despise grinding in games to increase playtime, so the fact that i can make money by engaging in trade across many worlds which allow me to financially support my building needs, is great. I still wish for more varied and interesting combat, but then again, máybe they actually add that end-game? Not sure so far.

This game is currently a solid 7/10 for me, because it ís a fun game. Adding better saving methods and fixing some of these bugs might push it up to a 8. Who knows, they might. They just might. After all this game started out as a dumpster-fire, and look where we got now:P At least over hálf of it is fun to play:P

So, its complicated, but the short answer is: I hate this game:P

I play this with many friends, which is the main reason that i keep playing, because i like joining my friends in a game. Its the one good side about this game, you can play with many friends.

Then again, why would you?
This game drives tedious slow grindy progress to a new level. Not onloy does it take WAY to long and too much effort to reach mildly interresting checkpoints, those checkpoints then are as lame as could be.
As an example, i compare this game to minecraft a fair bit. unfair, because its not minecraft at all, but alas, comparisons are made:
-In minecraft, when you go down a technological line (asuming yer playing with mods ofc), you atleast get a new machine or component each corner to keep you interrested in conti8nieuing long tedious processes that atleast have many little victories. in this game, you dont. Like cooking? well, sure, theres 6 "techtrees" of cooking to purseu, but theres nothing exiting happening within those. your food becomes slightly less tedious to balance and make, but man, its tedious and ♥♥♥♥ nontheless:P

I just dont like long tedious games, and this game ticks many of the boxes that make such tedious games anoying. I know my friends are loving this, so maybe check a differtent revieuw, but man.... i hate this game:P

This is without a doubt the best deckbuilder strategy game that i have played in a while. Its a game that can infuriate, but feels so rewarding when you do things well. Good game, huge amount of mods to spice things up when youve hit the couple hundred hours, new fun every run. What more do i want:):P

I like this game. Its deffi not game of the year for me, but i like this game alot. It does so many little things right that pokemon did wrong or in menial ways. And yes the comparison is unavoidable. It takes a while to get to know the proper terms in this game, heck, i even named my TemTems after pokemon as a joke, but it is its own thing. Especially multiplayering a catch-em-all game is very enjoyable:P Something we should have had from pokemon a LONG time ago. Other fun things are the extensive dialogues full with clever jokes and easter-eggs, the little untold areas and secrets, such as rewards for not taking the reward money and the fluent transitions from land to water n such. Its nice not to go through dialogue every time you wish to swim! Neat stuff like that. Good game.
