I went into this expecting disappointment, but I was completely blown away. Silent Hill 2 has been my favourite game for years, and I was prepared to be let down by the remake. But they nailed it. The care and attention they put into preserving the original atmosphere while adding new elements that feel even more like Silent Hill 2 than the original itself left me amazed. They didn’t just rehash the game they truly respected what made it special and built on that!

I started playing and couldn’t stop, next thing I knew, I had been playing for 10 hours straight. Whether you’re a fan of the original or new to Silent Hill 2, this is the experience you need. They’ve gone above and beyond, and I’m so happy to have been proven wrong. I haven’t beaten the game yet, but I’m more excited than ever to see what’s next!

Limbo is a hauntingly beautiful game that draws me in with its eerie atmosphere and minimalist design. The tension in every step, combined with its haunting visuals, creates an unforgettable experience. Its silence speaks volumes, leaving a lasting impact.

Papers, Please is a game that immerses me in its gripping world of bureaucracy and moral choices. The atmosphere is heavy, making every decision feel significant. Its impact lingers long after the game ends, as the weight of each choice stays with me even after all these years later.

Time to mix drinks and change lives!

As someone who typically isn’t a fan of visual novels, I didn’t expect to love VA-11 Hall-A as much as I did. But it turned out to be an exception that hooked me from start to finish.

Unlike most visual novels, VA-11 Hall-A lets you actually play as a bartender, mixing drinks and changing lives! It adds an interactive layer that keeps the game from feeling like you're just clicking through text. I enjoyed the balance between the gameplay and narrative.

The story is fantastic, filled with memorable characters who come into your bar with their own lives, problems, and personalities. The way these stories intertwine gives you a real sense of connection with them. It’s not just about making drinks, it’s about learning their world and how they survive in a cyberpunk dystopia.

The art style is amazing, too. The pixel art has this retro charm that fits the cyberpunk vibe perfectly. The music Incredible! The soundtrack complements the atmosphere so well that I found myself just not doing anything and just listening to the music

I completed the game 100%, and I can confidently say it was worth every moment. Even though I’m not into visual novels, VA-11 Hall-A stands out because of its unique mix of gameplay, story, art, and atmosphere.

The Caribbean Sail is a charming, retro styled sailing adventure that I’ve grown fond of. It’s simple but hits the right spot when I’m in the mood for something lighthearted and Silly. There’s a surprising amount of humor and dark twists thrown in. The random events at sea keep me wondering what's next? and I like that I can sail with or against the wind, never quite knowing what’ll happen next. The unpredictability of my voyages keeps me coming back. It’s a small game, but it nails the feeling of a perilous sea journey, and I find myself enjoying it for what it is. A quirky delightful sailing experience.

Kingdom draws me in with its calming atmosphere and music that I truly enjoy. It's the music that keeps me coming back to this game again and again. The gameplay is casual and minimalistic, and I find myself picking it up from time to time, enjoying it without any pressure to commit. It's a peaceful experience that I return to mainly for its incredible soundtrack and relaxing vibe.

Finding Teddy left such an impression on me that, even after 10 years, I still remember it vividly. I first played it on my phone, and its beautiful pixel art and hauntingly atmospheric music drew me in right away. The game has this quiet, magical charm that sticks with me even after all these years. It's a short experience but filled with creative puzzles and a unique musical mechanic that I found truly memorable. It may not be a long game, but its impact lasts far beyond its playtime.

Pilgrims is one of the best point and click games I’ve ever played, and it’s the perfect starter game for anyone interested in the genre. Amanita Design has truly outdone themselves with this one. From the moment I started playing, I was charmed by its unique art style and playful humor.

What sets Pilgrims apart is its creativity. Unlike many point and click games that force me down a single path, Pilgrims offers multiple solutions to puzzles, all of which are clever and comedic. This freedom to experiment and find different ways to progress made the game feel fresh and engaging every time I play it.

I love Pilgrims so much. It’s a game that captures everything I enjoy about point and click adventures while avoiding the frustrations that can sometimes come with the genre. Amanita Design has created a gem with Pilgrims, and it stands as one of their best works in my opinion. For anyone looking to get into point and click games, Pilgrims is the perfect place to start.

Machinarium starts strong, but it doesn’t take long for the quality to decline. The unique hand drawn art and atmospheric music draw me in, and the story has its charming moments. But as you continue, the game gets worst.

The further I play Machinarium, the more the puzzles become tedious, convoluted and ridiculous. What starts as a charming adventure turns into a frustrating slog, thanks to the annoying mini game puzzles that break the flow and feel more like burdens than challenges. Every time I consider replaying Machinarium, I remember the great start, get excited, and then recall the awful later parts and then, I don’t want to touch it anymore.

While the art and music are still praiseworthy to this day, the puzzles sucks. Amanita Design has made far better games both before and after Machinarium. If you’re new to their work, I wouldn’t recommend starting here. Instead, try Pilgrims, a far superior game that showcases what Amanita does best without the frustration Machinarium brings.

This Review is based on the 10th Anniversary Update.

This review will be in three parts, covering the 2012, 2016, and 2022 versions of IMSCARED. I've played all versions as they came out, with the 2016 version being the first thing I play after resetting my computer. I've played this game over ten times and gifted it to more than ten people. I love it and consider it one of the greatest horror games ever. If you want the short version: get this game now. It's unlike anything you will ever play. Even after all these years, no other game has executed what IMSCARED did. It was one of the first Steam games I got, and it holds a special place in my heart.

IMSCARED stands out in its sound design, art style, and gameplay even more than a decade later. The game breaks the fourth wall by creating files on your computer. This out of the box puzzle solving approach remains supreme in its execution and creativity. The game is so much more than just a horror game. It always felt to me like an emotional journey, with more to the story than just scares. It is not a mindless horror cliché.

One issue I have with the game is the lack of cloud saving. Every time I reset my computer, everything gets wiped, and I have to start again. This was fine before the 2022 version, but now there are files you need to keep to access future new content. Otherwise, you must start from scratch. This wasn't a big deal before since it's not a long game, and I already know all the solutions and where to go. However, with the 2022 version, you must download the test build and go through the entire scenario again. While not terrible, it is tedious. The thought of having to play through the game again just to reach the new content makes me less excited. I wish the cloud feature was enabled for this game.

2012
The 2012 version felt like a taste of what was to come. It was groundbreaking for its time and still is. It served as a demo of what’s to come, showcasing the game's unique mechanics and atmosphere.

2016
This version is where the game fully became realized, feeling like a fully fleshed-out game. The fourth wall-breaking puzzles were, and still are, mind-blowing to me. It felt like an unstable program in your computer. The ending feels so fitting and brings everything together.

2022
First, this version changed engines so other versions of the game can be ported to phones and other platforms. This introduced some drawbacks, such as tamer out of game puzzles and no window pop up asking, "what's my name." Instead, it uses in-game input, which slightly changes some of the game's appeal but not by much. This was done to avoid your computer thinking the game is trying to modify it. However, aside from these changes, it is essentially the 2016 version.

The 2022 version also adds extra content after you finish the game. Just when I thought the game couldn't get more creative, it did. It asks you to return to one of the levels, download a test build from Itch.io, play it to get some specific files, merge them with the 2022 version file, and then enter new content that will change with every major update of the game. How crazy is that! The game feels alive even after all these years. It’s a game that came out in 2012 and is still being updated to perfection to this day.

I am looking forward to what’s to come. I love this game and highly recommend everyone to play it. Horror fans and non-horror fans alike. There's more to come, so join in or you'll miss out.
