So upfront I've been enjoying this game, I was always interested in Extraction games like Tarkov but I'm simply not the best at PvP games, so this game scratches the urge to play em pretty well.

Gameplay is simple and easy to get into and while I'm still pretty early I can see where it's going and I'm happy to stick around for the game's current roadmap.

My only real gripes with the game is some issues with UI, Inventory, mods, and some bits with combat.

The UI is mostly for while you're in your ship, there's not a lot of menu's but I'd like it if I could keep my stock pile open while navigating other menus, or if I could keep what items a station is buying up on the side while I load my mercs with said items, just to make it a bit faster.

I feel the starting inventory is too small, not including the stuff you have equipped, you've got 6-12 open backpack slots and 1-2 extra slots, which can work but since almost all weapons I've seen save for take up two slots, some barter items taking up two slots, medical supplies, food, and ammo, you run out of space quick. Sure you'll use a lot of these supplies over the course of a mission but early on trying to grab some extra materials to use with crafting along with any extra weapons, mission items, or large barter items mean you end up leaving a lot behind early on. I'd say maybe increase the inventory size by 1 or 2 squares as the game goes on or maybe making some smaller weapons like pistols take up 1 square of inventory space.

I'd love to see workshop support for this game, I saw in the QA the devs did earlier this month that they do have mod support planed for later and I'm excited to see what people can come up with.

Combat, so I saw that a battle log and more enemy readability was coming so that'll help a lot, I've lost a handful of good runs because an enemy popped up with a gun that one shot me and I have no idea why I actually died, since I've yet to see that enemy or weapon again I have no idea how to actually prep for encountering it again in the future.

Like I said the game is enjoyable, I recommend giving it a shot if what you see grabs your interest in anyway.

So given the recent happenings with this game having settled down I figure'd I'd sit down and make a review for the game. The game is fun, simple as, the devs put out a steady stream of content to keep the game going and players invested, a generous premium currency that you can earn by simply playing and finding the currency in game. Overall if you got a couple of friends it's easy to lose hours to this game, I tend to avoid playing games like this with randoms mostly because I find it more fun with people who I know well, but from the few randoms I played with have been positive experiences.

Does the game still have issues? Yes, bugs, crashes, weird interactions with weapons and items, and if that's enough to turn you away from a game then that's fine, the devs are pretty active in trying to fix issues as new ones appear.

If you got $40 and a couple of buds this game is an easy recommend.

Darktide had a really rough launch, and while it's still not in an ideal state the game itself is a lot of fun to play, even more so if you got a couple friends to play with.

In it's current state I can confidently say that it's worth the pick up, the gunplay and minute to minute gameplay in missions is so satisfying, popping heads and mowing down heretics en masse will never not feel fun.

I'd like there to be more cosmetics and customization that you can earn in game with free currency, as well as the paid skins to have an extra round of quality checking so we can avoid obvious clipping issues.

So figured I'd update my review after playing a bit of Echos, I'm still fairly early on with everything going at smooth pace through content.

I played a good bit of the MMO version of the game and while I was a bit speculative of the relaunch I'm happy to say I'm enjoying the direction the game is taking. They removed the MMO elements and made it a single player game with co-op and from what I can tell you can get through pretty much everything solo if you so desire.

Cosmetics are now earned in game at random from doing pretty much anything in the game, I've already got a fair bit of fashion going and really like how my Wayfinder's look so far. You'll be getting a steady supply of items and cosmetics as you play with a few options to buy some from merchants with materials and items you find in game as well.

Build crafting is a lot better, with weapons having different rarities, echo slots, and power when you get them with higher tier ones dropping from harder content. Plus now armor pieces you find give small bonuses (and don't overwrite your fashion), the new Talent tree which is pretty massive, and new affinity passives, you get a pretty wide range of build options and gear/loot to go for.

The Imbuements are still one of the main stays, and while I haven't dove to much into them with Echos it's a good system idea and I wish more games had something similar.

I have a couple cons and a few things I'd hope to see added or touched up.

While performance is a lot better there's a handful of bugs I've run into still, nothing outright game breaking but annoying.

Survivability while solo is rough without a solid build, traps do a fair bit of damage so not paying attention will get you killed real quick along with any source of crowd control, get snared in a group and you're likely dead.

I'd like them to double down on the build craft, maybe have modifiers that Echos, Weapons, and Armor can spawn with adding some random bonuses, like maybe an axe you get from a dungeon with a solar imbuement will ignite enemies hit for a short while, and Echos or Artifacts that give a small bonus to vary up the random loot game.

Might be a bit of a stretch but maybe some mod support, player cosmetics and enemies would breath a lot of life into the game I think.

Honestly I'm hopeful for the game, while I genuinely wish it's launch had gone better I'm looking forward to what Airship have set up for the future. I'd like to see more areas, enemies, Wayfinders, and more added over the years.

So I had been keeping an eye on this game for a little while and picked it up on sale for the Holidays, at almost 3 hours I can say it's not a bad game but needs some polish and quality of life features. I'm still fairly early into the game so take everything I say with a grain of salt.

I like the idea behind the Lances and having groups of characters act as a single unit when it comes to fighting, while it's a bit hands off since you can't directly tell each character in a Lance what to do, the characters class does a good job telling you what they will do in combat. When it comes to characters I wish I could allocate points to what stats I want outside of the card system. I'm still learning how to chose what class is best for what characters I have and all that based off what cards I get by the time I max them out in their starting classes.

I'd like to have the option to buy multiple pieces of equipment at a time, not a major thing since the fitting room is there I just like to buy gear in advance myself.

I wish there was more customization/control over my soldiers for the most part, kinda one of my big things when it comes to games like this really.

I will say I did experience a crash after about 2 hours or so, while fighting some undead in a mine, might be something to look out for there.

Like I said I'm still playing the game and still early on, so I'll update this review if I have any major changes in my opinion, but overall I'm enjoying the experience and I look forward to this game's future since it seems the dev is still updating it.

I enjoy this game a fair bit, it can be a bit slow paced at times but it's a good kick back and raise some monsters kind of game.

Updating my review after playing the game for a fair bit longer now that FPS issues and connectivity issues have been sorted (kinda).

Do I recommend the game? Yes, the core gameplay loop is enjoyable and the classes help keep things interesting. Weapon variety is good and as you progress through the story you'll be able to upgrade the weapons and gear that you like most to keep them viable into the late game. The art team of this game did a damn good job making weapons, armor, and the environments look great.

I'm still not at the end game content yet so I can't give any opinions on that yet, but what I can give opinions on is the baseline combat and gameplay loop.

First and foremost the game gets ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hard depending on what world level you're set too, if you want a challenge leave it on the highest tier and go nuts, but expect to get stomped whenever you overextend or make a mistake.

The gunplay is solid and you're going to be in a constant battle of choosing to shoot from cover or run in with your abilities, it takes a while to get used to the weird momentum this game has going but once you get into the flow and find guns and abilities that mesh with you, you'll have a fair bit of fun turning both people and monsters into red mist or charred skeletons. Collecting mods and making weird combos with your higher rarity weapons is something I'm going to explore more as the game goes on but slapping crowd control mods on your guns can and will make some fights much easier.

My biggest issues with the enemies I've run into so far is that Marksmen and Spotters are nightmares to deal with in solo, their shots feel like they're always trained on you even if you can't see the laser sight, from what I can tell if they're out of cover and aiming, the moment you're out of cover they're going to take a shot and take a chunk of your health, only real way to avoid the damage is to ether kill them first or wait for them to duck back behind cover. Other than them I've noticed for the larger enemies like the Brood Mother have some attacks that using your dodge feels pointless, I'm not talking about I-Frames or anything like that, I mean if you can't interrupt say her jumping attack you're going to get hit.

The AI also has moments where it just kinda stops working, I've seen enemies that I've already aggroed sometimes just stop moving or attacking, and just... sit there while I shoot them.

My biggest pieces of advice for the game are as follows, always keep a sniper or a long range weapon in your inventory if you're playing solo, take out the enemy snipers first before going rambo on the rest of the human enemies. Anytime you use an ability while in cover don't start shooting again until the animation plays in full and your character returns to cover, you'll be out of cover otherwise. Give the Devastator a shot, it's actually quite fun.

Alright so, Skul's on the final stretch to it's official release and I figure I'd say my piece before hand.

First off I enjoy this game, like a lot. It's one of those games I can sit back and enjoy while I've got some time to burn. In it's current state it takes me maybe around a half hour to go from start to the 3rd major boss on a run with some alright skulls and items.

I won't lie, the randomness of skulls, items, and quintessence drops can get a bit annoying, I've had runs where I get the same skull three times in a row with the same abilities and that can just really kneecap a run. Luckily most of the time that doesn't happen, I'm usually picking up my main skulls and items in the first two levels and seeing how well my build works by the 3rd without much hassle. (Also heads up the major bosses aren't effected by any status effects sooooo don't depend on poison and such to be of much help against them.)

The game does have a hefty bit of difficulty to it, and the initial curve is rough, once you get some upgrades from the witch the game gets more forgiving for lack of a better word. You'll take less damage, gain a shield when you swap skulls, even a resurrection at a portion of your health. I feel that getting to those upgrades will be what makes or breaks the game for a few folks since the resource to get these upgrades drops in small amounts in the first level.

The combat for the most part is pretty simplistic, you have a single attack button, a button for your quintessences, and then one to two skills based on the skull you have equipped. So if you're looking for a brawler with a lot of combos and such this game won't be for you.

This game does have a lot of item synergies that were recently expanded on thanks to the new inscriptions system, items now get small stacking bonuses that I hope to see more of as time goes on. Hopefully with some way to customize or swap out them in the future for more weird builds.

Naturally the real draw of the game is the varied skulls that you can collect as you progress through the game, you can hold two at a time and they have various abilities based on the tier of the skull, with a few just fun ones here and there like the Rock Star. I hope to see a lot more varied and crazy skulls added into the game in the future as they're an easy way to keep players coming back for more.

There aren't a lotta games that can keep me coming back to it as often as this one, so I highly recommend it if you're a fan of games with a bit of challenge to them, enjoy rogue-lite games, or just wanna support a dev with a fair bit planned for the game

Starbound is a very unique game, I've spent a fair number of hours just running around looking at all the planets looking for a good place to build a house or a base, or in some cases a hole to hide in cause I went to a planet with strong enemies and I ignored the warnings about said enemies .w.

Point is it's a good game, better with friends as these kinds of games tend to be.
