The slight graphical polishing was not worth the performance issues that came with it.
I went back and played the original for a few achievements and realised two things: It performs so much better and the graphics don't even change enough for a majority of players to notice.
The ability to comfortably tab out was nice but we're talking about playing the game here.
This is honestly just another botch job of a remaster by a company with enough money to do it right, a freelance modder could have done this better. That's usually the case.

Game is still hard as BALLS at some points but it's had decent treatment with this re-release.
Step in the right direction from Aspyr.

This review is mostly specific to the SP Campaign as I don't care for the multiplayer aspects.

I get that the concepts for Space combat through the cockpit of a starfighter is limited and I don't fault EA or the conceptionists for designing the campaign mission structure they way they did...BUT:
My god! The number 1 policy that should apply to any video game in the world: MAKE IT FUN!!!
It felt like 75% of the campaign was dedicated to Escorts and protection objectives even when the faction you play as are the ones on the offensive! Not only that but how can you expect the player to do it well when regardless of your choice of controls, you are left with manuverability the likes of which we haven't seen since Ace Combat 6. It's just stress inducing is what it is!
I'm not religious but god have mercy on anyone who tries this campaign on a difficulty any higher than Pilot.

112 hours having fun grinding out achievements because it makes for a good past time doing whatever else on the side, especially when you are teen like I was...only for a bunch of ignorant ♥♥♥♥♥ to turn CSGO into CS2, removing all achievements instead of making a separate game entirely from which they could have marketed for a fat profit.
Who the ♥♥♥♥ actually thinks of this as good business practice!? I don't care that achievements don't mean anything, they're fun to get but not when they are arbitrarily taken away to fit some stupid new mould. Don't be such a Ubisoft, Valve.

Impossible to play now with the bot invasion, Game needs to be retired because Valve will do nothing. This game is the least of their concerns now.

Game companies out there take notes; This is what a real remaster looks like.

95% competitive multiplayer. Stick it up your ass EA.
