Overrated garbage, belongs in flash game form.

We've all had a family member or some associate from an older generation who gets you a video game as a present that nobody has heard of and developed by some obscure parent company. The game is not tailored to your taste at all but you try it anyway because you don't want to feel bad for the person who got it for you (as they clearly don't understand good from bad games) and when you play it, it is nothing short of AGONY!
That's what this game is for me.

This is not a professional review - I am probably alone in these sentiments.
2012 was the year when gaming started becoming so much more mainstream and this game was basically in that hall of fame at the time for it's "Innovation, story, concept and design". I could happily agree with Dishonored having these qualities...were it not so painful to play.
I went through this game 100% including the DLCs (including the godforsaken trials DLC) and there was not a single point in which I felt I could appreciate the gameplay. In truth, I have this game because someone I used to know assumed I'd like it simply because they do, so being forced to like it made it worse for me.

This game is very well made and I can appreciate quality driven products.
HOWEVER: An important mental health tip for those scouting this game on the store (and reading this right now)
You can enjoy this game and the substance of the immersion if you're down bad and impartial to virtual reality.
But DO NOT play this game if you are severely lonely and possibly depressed.
Because when she starts giving you that private dance, you're going to remember real quick that she's not real and neither is the girl keeping you warm every night. The real thing might be scarier to some of you, but the point is it would happen for real.

I tried this game and played until I got all achievements with the mindset that perhaps I could have been getting gas lit by the masses for Ubisoft hatred. Even went through the effort of putting in a few aesthetic mods since there were some nice ones on Nexus. I can honestly say this pure and blunt: this game was an awful experience. Anyone who is thinking of trying Outlaws MUST BE AWARE THAT THIS GAME IS A HAZARDOUS PURCHASE.

A game that carries endorsements from Nividia and Intel clearly banks on the hope that the people playing it are not using any high spec PC components made by any other manufacturers. This just alienates anyone who spent thousands of dollars on differing specs where any other game would offer the capacity for diverse support. It's no wonder that I would get about 5-10 minutes of good looking visuals before one loading screen would break the graphics down past their lowest settings. (I even tried fixing it 5 different times using known solutions and it made zero difference, I gave up and put up with the potatoes)

All the popular gaming youtubers that played this back in 2011 (Pewdiepie, Markiplier etc) made this game look easy.
But my god...I was not expecting such horrid manoeuvrability and inability to get through some of the puzzles without the use of a guide. That safe code in the piano room has the most over-complicated puzzle I have ever seen in a game and I still don't understand how you can even figure it out IN-GAME.

This game insists upon COD multiplayer muscle memory and devotion to terminally online disorders.
Even the local (solo) play discourages you from being anything less.
Don't waste your life with this ♥♥♥♥. If you're friend tells you to buy this to play it with them, Don't.

The slight graphical polishing was not worth the performance issues that came with it.
I went back and played the original for a few achievements and realised two things: It performs so much better and the graphics don't even change enough for a majority of players to notice.
The ability to comfortably tab out was nice but we're talking about playing the game here.
This is honestly just another botch job of a remaster by a company with enough money to do it right, a freelance modder could have done this better. That's usually the case.

Game is still hard as BALLS at some points but it's had decent treatment with this re-release.
Step in the right direction from Aspyr.
