A Video Game lover at heart. Metal Gear Solid :VSnake:, Monster Hunter :mhwgood:, Ôkami, Valkyria Chronicles, Tekken, X-Com, Elite... I also like small indies productions (Darkest Dungeon :stress:, Dead in Vinland :yawp:, Banner Saga :Raider:, Battle Brother :brothersword: etc...)

---------------------------The Golden Rules of Video Game Purchase (as a hobby) ------------------------

1/ No Preorder - Company has to earn my money. it's not granted just on good faith.
They have to deliver first. In this time of digital market, preorder don't even makes sense anymore; there is no "shortage"

2/ Decipher any "trailer" and "gameplay footage"; learn to recognise scripted events, post processing effect.
If it's too good to be true, it probably is.
Don't take any official key visual at face value. Downgrading is common practice.
(Ubisoft somehow MASTERED that aspect)

3/ Do not project / extrapolate the previous result of a company on to their future work.
Companies have failure all the time. No company is safe from disappointing its customers.
(Blizzard anyone ?)

4/ Take official review with a grain of salt. "Journalism" especially gaming press is more about pushing sales rather than informing / warning / advising customers.
Make sure the test is for YOUR platform.
have a look at now worldwide acknowledged failure and check how good was the review right before release....

5/ Wait 1 week after release. Let the unofficial review reveal how the game runs.
The true and honest reception.
Any last minute marketing schemes that unravel ? (Micro transactions, bugs, cut content, etc....)

:yawp:Golden rule of not being allowed to trash a game:yawp:
5 hours in the game: You are not allowed to trash the game, you have barely played it!
20 hours in the game: You are not allowed to trash the game, you haven't seen all of its mechanics!
50 hours in the game: You are not allowed to trash the game, you have't grasp it fully!
100+ hours in the game: You are not allowed to trash the game, you wouldn't have played it so long if it would be trash!

I guess the best description of me would be (if playing an mmo or social game), the one that like to play alone to see just how far I can get alone while at the same time helping anyone around that needs help, then, when I can't go any farther, work together with others to complete harder objectives, I usually don't mind playing with others, I'm just not the type that usually initiates that. The best opponent / challenger is yourself.

@FriendhaustTTV, To be honest, this is more a rent about how UBISOFT is shunning steam user away, trying to break of, start their own crappy thing in their corner, then magically coming back without any effort; only for the cash.

You own games on UPLAY => got to re buy them full price on steam....
You want Steam integration (achievement etc...) => nope ♥♥♥♥ that.
You could already integrate "non-steam game" in steam. Nothing has changed.

Not to mention their toxic working environment and milked franchised....

just because something is a long established pain in the ass, doesn't mean it's OK.

their launcher isn't terrible, it's just sub par, under delivering, and useless. It is not wanted or needed in any way.
