The narrative is superb, the gameplay is lacking. But the narrative part is very powerfully done.

Little girl growing's grandpa, is an entity that has existed since the beginning of time, it originally did not have a mind, but in the process of contact with other creatures to learn their thoughts - a bit like the current hot big language model, chatgpt or something, but it and the big language model of a fundamental difference is that it has an animal nature. The animal part of it longs for flesh and blood, while the desire to be "fed" shapes its consciousness. The process of feeding the little girl is a process of "refining the furnace". She molded the being into a loving grandfather as she wished. This being is defined as a demon, or as an "angel of needles", and its existence is like a mirror, shaped by the one who shaped it. In the game, there are two cases of successful achievement of the purpose, one is the goat to make a contract with it, let it play their own children; one is the protagonist of the little girl let it become a loving grandfather, (in the better ending) to make their parents "good". What they have in common is that these two wishes are very pure, and both successfully completed the ritual. There are also cases of failure in the game, because the researcher did not complete the ritual, and the wish was not pure, so it was eventually consumed. It is like a mirror, the little girl purely thought that the entity was her grandfather, so the entity ended up becoming a grandfather who loved her; the experimenter thought that the entity was a monster in skin any more, so the entity became a monster as he wished and devoured him. The story is very charming - the simple little girl stumbles upon the entity that has wandered the world for trillions of years feeding on human desires, whose existence predates the birth of the symbol, whose animal nature craves flesh and blood, while she simply craves love.

Life is just like that. That's why I'm so obsessed with this story, it glimpses a part of our lives and narrates it in a story that fits very well. The story has the mystery of existence, the fear of the unknown, the pure nature, the suffering that does ......
In some perspective, everyone gets what they want (although the means to achieve the end is not "good means" in the secular sense), and it's a very satisfying and tender story.
I love this story so much.
