I've played video games for close to 40 years and I can safely say this is a contender for all time favourite. If you also consider the price, it leaves all the competition far behind. The mechanics in this game blend so perfectly together, the balance is so close to perfection, the difficulty settings are just right (although newcomers may think it's too random and hard) and there is more content than you might think (after nearly 800 hours I still occasionally run into event texts I'm sure I haven't seen before).

Gameplay involves indirectly commanding a spaceship, by issueing orders to your crew and choosing how you route energy to your different systems and subsystems. It's like you're Captain Kirk himself (or Picard or <insert name here> for younger generations). You start with 1 ship and gradually (through achievements or wins) can unlock 27 others. Playstyles can be very different between ships, and even with the same ship every run feels sufficiently different based on what you encounter. There is no perfect strategy you can apply each time, you have to work with what crosses your path and make the best of it.

If you haven't played FTL, do yourself a favor and give it a try. It's worth every penny.

Your review is lit! 🔥 It's like reading a mini novel, so much detail and passion. You're a pro at this, seriously!

I started playing this years ago and stopped for no good reason. I regard Into the Breach as one of my all-time favourite turn-based strategy games so I really should get back to this. Thanks for the nudge Twist! :-)
