I enjoyed it. Short read, got through it in about two sessions as a fast reader.

Definitely one of the most well crafted fighters out there inspired by MvC, and yet it still keeps giving nearly 10 years later. Worth your time learning how to play. Absolutely amazing GGPO netcode as well.

The recent content update is amazing, and was a great move by Future Club. Keep it up!

Okay, I'm getting around to rewriting my review after 500+ hours of playing this game on my PC alone, totally ignoring all of the time I've spent playing this game at locals, regionals, majors, at other peoples homes, at bars, etc.

I organize tournaments for this game. I really, really, really love it. There's so much I could write. Even three years later into playing this game, I still learn new ♥♥♥♥ every single day, and I've only ever really played ONE character. This game demands so much of you, but if you want a fighting game with unlimited expression and depth, you will find it here. The entire cast is insanely unique, with interesting mechanics and interactions, and a plethora of system mechanics that encourage you to just go buck wild and throw caution to the wind.

This game is all about risk reward, and the more you choose to lean into that, the more fun you'll have with it. You will never run out of things to enjoy, as long as you keep seeking other people to play with. And speaking of which, the online is phenomenal, with great rollback netcode allowing you to play people cross continent (although to be fair, your connection might not be perfect if you go THAT far), and enter tournaments across your region. The online is still relatively active, at least in the Americas, with multiple lobbies open most of every day. There's weekly tournaments for different regions, and tons of matchmaking discord servers as well. Xrd is alive and well, if that was one of your main concerns about getting into this game.

I really think everyone should give this game a try at least once, and maybe again. Pretty recently I've gotten people who had a bad first look at the game to try it again with a different character, and become totally enamored with it. Maybe you will too. Hopefully I can see you in the matchmaking lobbies out there. Or maybe even in person, at a tournament. Either way, if you want to start your journey, this is a great place to do it.

Legendary. Your life isn't complete if you haven't played it.

Game is still unsupported, devs are not going to add EAC support for Proton/Deck. Do not buy.

this game is good. it's fun, it has rollback, and it is still one of the best fighting games ever made despite its age. please play it.

SMT III Nocturne is a good game. I'd recommend it to anyone. If you haven't played the original game, go ahead and play this!

Is SMT III Nocturne HD Remaster a good remaster? It's certainly of questionable quality regarding its price. For starters, most of the textures only look moderately better than the original game. The game only supports 16:9 (and 4:3? not sure) aspect ratios, and is locked to 30FPS.

The remaster is sold for $50, but the Maniax version content (the only version released in America, keep in mind) costs another $10, and they even ask for $15 for cheat codes, and some music. The offerings are certainly disappointing, especially when you can emulate the original game with fan mods such as Hard Type. The game seems to be missing certain things as well, such as the descriptions of skills during combat, which is present in the PS2 game.

The Remaster DOES add new features though. First of all, it fixes many mistranslated demon/character names, which is an issue for a series with such cultural detail and atmosphere. The new re-translated demon names are proper this time around, which is good. The remaster also adds manual skill inheritance, something that fans have been absolutely begging for since the original came out. There's also new voice acting, which sounds absolutely wonderful (although the shops can get a bit annoying). There are other nice features, such as audio sliders for Voice, SFX, Music, Environment, etc which the original lacked. There's also a suspend option, which wasn't present in the original.

What I'm trying to get at is that if you're a hardcore fan, or a newcomer to the series, this is a wonderful purchase, even if it is a little pricey. If you're someone that has beat Nocturne before, and has no interest in the new offerings, it's nothing special, and I feel like you'd get more enjoyment out of the Hardtype mod (which hopefully may be modded back into Nocturne HD at some point alongside other mods such as a potential 60FPS mod, ultrawide resolution mod, etc).
