Loads of fun content…if you can handle the grind.
To address the elephant in the room, the game starts out obnoxiously easy, BUT it becomes more enjoyable in later chapters (phases 2 & 3). Don’t quit so early on, there is a fun game here.

MMXDive is almost everything I want in a Megaman game, but it is sorely lacking the movement, polish, fluidity, & level design of a standard Megaman X/Zero game.

There is loads of content from characters, weapons, hidden skills, boss chips, ability chips, cards, & dive triggers to interchange & mess around with.

This game lacks the boss weapon elements (like interacting with the level or providing boss weaknesses), in level hidden parts, en tanks, hp tanks, & out of order boss selection of prior Megaman titles, which would’ve made the level design more interesting imo. I’m of the opinion that it would’ve been nice being able to switch boss elements like in old MMX/Z games & use them to unlock areas or traverse stages, being able to do that on top of boss chips & weapons would’ve been great imo, as it would give more meaning to stages & bosses, along with making weapons more versatile.

I am of the belief that if they took this formula & combined it with the standard megaman X/Zero style this could be a very good direction for the series as a whole imo. The level of in depth customization & variety is superb, but the lack of MMX/Z's snappiness in movement, transitions, bosses, lack of boss weaknesses, & lack of parts & level design in stages leads to the game lacking the feeling of purpose & wonder that makes a Megaman X/Zero game so interesting.

An issue towards the end of the game is some attacks in the game can be near impossible to dodge there are some situations where enemies are in an undodgeable arrangement & some bosses are too difficult to dodge as their attacks are too big or come out too quickly for the player to react.

Dialogue is poorly translated to English, while you certainly can still enjoy the game & even the story to an extent, it leads to some dialogue being confusing or repetitive as the intent isn’t conveyed well in some scenes, this wasn’t a deal breaker for me & enough of the game was understandable to me to the point I enjoyed the story a lot in the 2nd & 3rd chapters of the game.

Other reviews say the game is boring?
Roughly half of the first chapter of the game will be obnoxiously easy, but if you can handle pushing through it, by about the second chapter of the game it enters a far more enjoyable state. Imo this is what kills the game for most, you have to be able to endure the first couple bosses to get to the fun part of the game.

It will hit a bit of a flow state for the second chapter, but coming up on the third chapter the game will suddenly become very hard & you will need to either upgrade a lot or pick a more useful build or character to overcome the difficulty.

Events will be about chapter 2-3 difficulty, & challenge mode difficulty in events is meant for end game so they have absurd hp & do a lot of damage.

Since the game starts out very easy & doesn’t let you have access to all of its features until about halfway through the second chapter or about level 40-70 I think, that really filters a lot of people not willing to give the game their time, as they think the game will be just another mind numbing mobile game, (Imo it's not if excluding the grindy aspects, which mind you can easily be alleviated by mods if you like modding).

The game has great variety of equipment, but stages are admittedly short & uninspired, I feel the game is worthwhile for anyone who enjoys rpgs & megaman, but this game is no metroidvania.

Tips

You can farm gems from the final boss, so don't worry about them, you can also get them from the 3 different 175 floor elevators (each floor giving 100 gems or more on higher difficulties).

There are tag team bosses in the elevators.

You can rank up cards using exact duplicates of them when leveling them up.

For farming the armor enhancement event stage I recommend:
Character: use Copy X with the lightning element charge shot chip, or Angepitoyeir.
Weapon: I suggest the Purple Rarity shotgun or the Blue burning sprayer.
Essentially anything that pierces terrain or does a lot of damage quickly will be helpful here.

For farming the EXP event stage I recommend rocket launchers as they pierce shields.

General gameplay:
Less op characters can be hard to keep in the fight without some kind of shield or healing, so it is recommended that you run these weapons &/or cards with them to help them survive better in later stages.

Healing dive trigger:
Sub Tank 5 star: allows you to heal your hp by 30% once.

Healing cards:
Gold Rarity Yellow Type: Merry Christmas 2022 has a periodic heal below 50% hp.
Blue Rarity Red Type: Batton M-501 Has a healing effect on kill.

Healing weapons:
Gold Rarity:
Bubble Bomber has heal on being hit, & hidden skill heal on depleting magazine ammo.
Heart Spray Gun has heal on heart arrow hit, & hidden skill large heal on low hp.
Supermag Gun has Hidden Skill Heal on kill.
Crimson Scythe has hidden skill heal on kill.
Purple Rarity:
Festive Specialty has heal on kill.

Stage 22-3
Trust me on this one, just max out S Class Hunter Zero & use him on that stage; for some inane reason whoever designed that stage decided to make the boss a damage check that very few characters seem to be able to pass, S Rank Zero literally shreds the trash bot or whatever it was called, they ought to fire whoever made that boss thinking it was a good idea if they didn’t learn from that mistake.

The End
Watch the credits when you beat the game, it brings closure that you don’t quite receive from the final boss dialogue.

After you beat the game, or perhaps when you get bored of grinding you should mod the game, there are great mods out there adding new characters, weapons, boss chips, weapons, cards, faster xp & money gain, buffs, skins, stages, raid bosses, etc. But I highly suggest waiting till after completing the story to do so as you may find yourself trivializing some content, as the power of most modded stuff is more in line with the op equipment than the lower tier stuff.

For clarification I beat the whole story of the game unmodded, I didn’t play through every event or unlock everything, but I played through the main substance of the game.

Throughout all my hours of playing the game, it froze/crashed on me once (unmodded), I don’t particularly remember where it happened (I think I was playing as base Zero & used Rakuhouha with the Protective Shield Chip against a boss, I didn’t lose anything as the autosave kept my progress after the win, this happened at the end of a stage, I think it was the unshielded Bit boss fight in chapter 2).

I’ll may edit this at some point to go more in depth on other features & modes in the game, but I feel I talked about the important stuff imo. I think this & megaman powered up are the direction capcom needs to take the megaman series as a whole, it is far more enjoyable, & having something like co op in top of that would be a dream come true.

I have my eyes set on 30XX, I intend to update this review if I get that game to describe if it lived up to a megaman fans expectations.

Really hope we will get a co op megaman game again at some point; I sadly missed out on X Dive online, but hear the modding community is attempting to restore co op functionality to the offline version.
