I like to play alot of games, mostly FPS and Racing games, I don't like any Horror games, however Doom is the only exception, Doom is life, Doom is Love.

It’s hard to provide a review of this game without context or bias.

So I’ll provide a brief piece of Context and A brief, personal opinion.

Context: Technically, Quake II is not a sequel to Quake, At the time ID wanted to make a new game with a new IP, They tossed around alot of names including WOR, none stuck and so it was decided to just call it Quake II.

Personal Opinion: This was my first exposure to Quake, I prefer this over Quake, but that’s not to say I don’t enjoy Quake, I just prefer Quake II.

Now for the review you no doubt wanted to read.

You are Bitterman, a Marine sent to Stroggos to destroy the Orbital Defence known as “Big Gun”, however you overshoot your LZ(Landing Zone), and end up far from where you are meant to be.

Fighting behind enemy lines you do whatever it takes to help Earth to win the war against the Strogg.

Graphics: 6/10, I have to be as unbiased as I can, the graphics are very clearly 90’s but that’s part of the charm of 90’s games, by todays standards it does not shine, but truthfully, It does not need to.

Audio: 8/10, Sonic Mayhem Created a true masterpiece that made it very clear that the audio was different from Quake, the music pumps you with adrenaline as each beat urges you to keep going, and it even sounds great on it’s own.

Gameplay: 10/10, Truly an evoloution in almost every respect, and again raised the bar on what FPS games should be aiming for.

Story: 4/10, I’m not a big Story guy but I need to be blunt, compared to other stories told by games both around Quake 2’s Era and beyond, it sits on a pretty average chair, yes, for the time it was unique enough, but considering Unreal released in the same year, and through PDA’s and enviromental storytelling managed to convey a much better story.

Overall, Bias aside, I must give a respectable 8/10, it IS a great game worth playing be it your first time or you haven’t played it in ages.

My Top 5 Favourite Games
1.Ultimate Doom (Many memories of my childhood were made in this game, the most important being the fact that Doom was the game that got me into doing gaming intensely)

2.Minecraft (I like the ability to pretty much do whatever you want without any limitations)

3.Quake 2 (Being a big fan of ID Software the reason why Quake 2 is number 3 is because i liked the direction they went with the Quake series, plus Quake 2 got a sequel)

4.F1 2014 (I have always enjoyed the pleasure of racing, and being a Formula 1 enthusiast, i really enjoy F1 2014, simply because i got the chance to play with some of my good mates on it)

5.Call Of Duty 4:Modern Warfare (This was my first Call Of Duty i had ever played, despite the fact that not many good memories were made when i first played it, it reminds me of the day when i went from the "Up, Down, Left, Right movement to the W, A, S, D and Mouse Movement")
